Find it amazing that tonight’s episode of
@60Mins
shows footage of a tractor spraying a golf course or park with glyphosate. It would kill all the grass. You wonder if they can’t understand it’s basic use & show incorrect footage , how can they report on it correctly
@NoTillBill
No till farming vs cultivation - a sneak peak of how farming would be all over much of the sandy agricultural area without glyphosate 🌱- you guess which system is which ... food vs no food or expensive food!

Differences in performance in generic glyphosate formulations and surfactant packages built in. Red = premium glyphosate , yellow = generic with poor surfactant loading. Over 500 glyphosate products on the market , so a lot to choose from. 👍reaserch by plant science consulting
Although a pain to add at times, AMS certainly boost’s the glyphosate performance , even with using rain water. 7 days after application with and without AMS on rye grass using 450IPA glyphosate. No other adjuvants added.

It still amazes me how recently cleared/cropped ground (15 yrs ago) still performs 2t ha more than the rest of the paddock, despite good N levels. Makes you think the natural soil health and fertility we started with prior to cultivation/erosion 🤷🏼♂️

Good old factor and clethodim to the rescue in glyphosate resistant rye grass. What’s very interesting is that despite the dims gradually fading away in control, when plants become glyphosate resistant , the Dims seem to magically work much better again👍 👍

Great to hear some good harvest stories in in Nth Vic mallee (Underbool)- Peas finishing up just under 3t ha. I suspect we are going to see some record results if the harvest weather allows in some regions that haven’t got too wet 👍

Northern mallee chickpeas are lapping up the wet spring ok so far this year with fungicide No.4 going out - amazing bulk and height, but hoping they pod up well also in the next few weeks.Not often we pray for a dry finish in the mallee 🤨

Uncle Gus (82 yrs old) implementing his 3 yr rotation, unchanged since 1950’s on his conventional fallow. Paddock worked many times the past 12 months, time to get some crop out of the ground 🌱🌱 (drinks light beers 🍺 from combine box, I am not joking)
Always a good reminder of the benefits of AMS to glyphosate as the rye grass knockdown season begins - often can help tip over some of the weak resistant plants in the field as well as aiding compatibility in some mixes👍

Good to visit good old uncle Gus today - happy as a lark and still farming by himself at age 86. Gave some plums and ended up getting back a leg of dorper 🐑- house in original condition of 1950’s 🏡 🍺
Maximus barley on Lentil stubbles approx 2t ha up on barley on wheat stubble through the fence (despite 200kg urea in total to close the gap) 3.5t Ha vs 5.5t ha. Typically 0.8-1t ha gap but as yield ⬆️ so is the gap

Admire how well this guys backs his fencing accuracy & GPS & ability to make slight adjustments on the go for strait sowing along a fence for about 2km run.

would be proud . The neighbour slightly more cautious 😬
Past pulse history showing up. Same seed rate of the lupin/pea mix but different history’s left and right. Lupins dominating where lupin history has been and peas on the right doing better where field pea history was. Shows the value of right rhyzobia background

Why it’s important to use registed products on RR canola -not all gly products are safe. Genetics are mapped with markers for the specific gene. Here the grower used registed product and finished a strip with Generic Gly. Registed product 2.2t Ha and the Generic strip 0.5t/ha 😖

Yes I have glyphosate in the shed. Do you have coffee or wine in your house ? If so , you should be more worried , not me. It’s not fun or convenient to consider them as more toxic , but hey let’s make up a storey about glyphosate ! 🎉 - farmers can just grow all organic 🤮
Charging soil with nitrogen - brown manure crops in for an early termination this year with a super start. After areas of 5t ha barley in 2019 - a lot of N going out the gate. One step back , to go three steps forward and top up the organic pool of N

Great transformation of constraint sands in S.A via the Plozza plow. Photo’s no Plozza vs Plozza. Zero row spacings implemented for maximum cover. Game changer and great investment

Dry sowing results are in - 600 farms indicated there dry seeding plan for 2018. Almost 2/3 are prepared to sow 50-100% without moisture which shows a lot of confidence in dry seeding. Thanks for those who participated 👍
Always tempting to save glyphosate & a pass and wait until cropping but the rapid growth of weeds & self sowns will make a haven for ryzo and declined surface moisture leading to a more patchy emergence , and ⬆️ root disease - false economy in this situation 😬
Brown manure crops - before and after double knock and rolling 🌱- 3 weeks apart. Nice mat of residue to save moisture and reduce weed germinations (light blocking). Investment in weed control and long term Nitrogen 👍

Time to eat some humble pie🥧- never thought such recovery was possible from early overwatch damage in planet barley. Plants set back have been delayed in maturity and tillered out better (7 tillers vs 33).Yield here could even be better with rain coming 🤷♂️

Getting some Maximus barley (improved Spartacus) off before the ☔️-quality hitting the specs with Ret 92, 69.4tw, Pr 10.5, Scr 1.4. Paddock history, was bought in 1995 for $180ac and wheat was $180t that yr. Today’s barley on paddock getting $200/t and land $1500-2000
Before the winter Blast,good to hear reports of lentils yields above expectations.Reports from Underbool 1.4t ha and Sea lake up to 1.8t ha.Both
0.4-0.5t ha ⬆️ on what they were estimated before harvest commenced. Let’s hope it’s a wide spread trend 👏

There are some amazing ppl about. Had a grower who had unexpectedly damaged seed and was chasing some quickly to sow now. He was put onto a another farmer he didn’t know who had some of the same variety, and would not accept any money for the 23t barley. He just wanted to help

Gly resistance trial really showing up differences now. Gly resistance in lab now showing. Won’t name or shame products but worth investigating adjuvants for harder to kill situations. Low level resistance can still be controlled with gly - Double knock paraquat wise idea 👍
Went to a friends place and he ditched his glyphosate tin as a cigarette butt holder, due to perceived health risk. Lucky he found a quick safer replacement 👍⛑

Recent rains and cool conditions have done wonders for lentils crops in the mallee the past 2 weeks - pods trying to fill two , late flowers that may make it and extra bulk for harvesting. Some crops with 0.8-1t ha now have potential now for 1.5t ha

Glyphosate resistant rye grass is an indication of high use patterns. What’s good to see is the high amount of 🐛 worms in this paddock which has been due to no cultivation and no-till farming. Glyphosate has increased biological activity and improved soil health

Dry seeding always a great weapon to get crop in but very tough going this year.Replacing bolts and parts, adjusting depth is keeping the job going after compaction of wet sowing in 2020. If it stays dry at least we keep good stubble cover🌱
