Happy Friday! A rare funny post from me - Teachers - what words do you pronounce differently or change to avoid the entire class laughing hysterically and losing all focus? Mine were always the planet Uranus and the term Pianist. Can’t wait to hear yours! 😂😂😂

I just want to know what you think we should do with them if we keep failing them and having them repeat the grade. I spent 25 years in middle school (18 in HS) and saw 6th graders with beards and mustaches.
Yesterday during morning announcements, our principal mentioned the Challenger disaster, where launch pressure overruled engineers’ warnings about faulty O-rings. I couldn’t help but see the parallel in education. Teachers warn that social promotion creates learning gaps, but

It is hard for teachers to remember that what we do impacts all of us; from turning in grades late, forgetting to take attendance, forgetting to log your time sheet, late to pick up the kids from the cafeteria; all of this is impacting someone else trying to do their job.
A coach just emailed the school reminding us that he asked us to come to him with any grades concerns at the start of the season and that if he is surprised by any bad grades on the report card he'd be checking into if we followed grading and communications guidelines

Uhh the people teaching your kids are ordering Door Dash and overpaying for that same crappy food (cold now) every day. Ask anyone who works in a school

Don't quit. Just don't do it. Let the counselor or admin tutor and administer the tests over and grade the papers over.
A teacher at my school came into my room after dismissal yesterday and showed me an email she received (summarized with her permission, student’s name has been changed): Counselor: Johnny’s parents are concerned because he’s only failing your class. Any idea why? Teacher:

Our system is not set up based on ability but rather by age. Retaining students in lower grades is how your little 11yr old princess is sitting in middle school with boys with beards and mustaches. Retaining in middle pretty much guarantees dropouts.

Find out what would make the kids excited. Ask them for ideas
For the first two months of school, "spirit days" were very lightly participated in, hardly at all. But today, it's noticably more. Not a lot let, maybe 1 in 5. But I'm seeing more participants, more smiles. Might actually be gaining some momentum here.

Here’s an unpopular question: is it about Learning, or Grading?
Can’t blame this teacher for wanting to quit and while we are at it, except for school related issues, let’s get School Counselors out of a student’s life. No need for a completely untrained counselor to be meeting with your child about their gender, an abortion, or their mental

Only God can give a grieving widow the heart, serenity, and strength to forgive her husband's assassin only 11 days after he shot him. Only God.

My church prayed for his wife and children, prayed for our country, and prayed for the man who pulled the trigger and his family, too.
Good morning. I went to church today for the first time in a couple of months. I was sad that the name of Charlie Kirk was not mentioned a single time. Other tragedies were mentioned. But at this particular Catholic church, nothing about Charlie. What were they afraid of?

Where I live, if you wait until November, nothing is left.
I cannot believe I saw this at a store today. I hate how this lessens the impact of what should be a special time of year, not half the year. I hate that young children are indoctrinated with the worst aspect of the holiday - consumerism, rather than getting to get excited about

Six years ago our school decided students could not take our their cell phones unless the teacher gave them specific instructions. After a few days, the students got used to the rule, and there were very few instances of violators. We didn't need a law.
One million Michigan school children are about to return to school in classrooms where cell phones will be a constant distraction to their learning. Lawmakers tried passing a bill that would require phones to be turned off during instructional time. However, House democrats

Where do you stand on classroom lighting? I’m team ‘bright and awake,’ but my co-teacher seems to prefer ‘dim and dark’ all day. Thoughts?
