This reporter displays the exact type of thinking regarding the teaching profession that has resulted in the largest teacher shortage in American history.
How do you like them apples? 😜😔

In my 24 years of teaching, I’ve never once voiced my political opinions to my students. Teachers come from a position of leadership and influence and with that comes responsibility. Classrooms are places where students learn about facts, not absorb a teacher’s opinions.
A 4-day school week for students is perfect for ALL involved.
TEACHERS can use the 5th day to catch up with their insane workload!
STUDENTS can catch up & participate in ANY off-campus, extra curriculars they’re interested in without the wildness of a minute-to-minute schedule.
Why Are Teachers So Tired All The Time? 😴
Research shows we make about 1,500 decisions a day! The constant requirement to ‘be on’ becomes DRAINING to our brains and bodies. It is called ‘Decision Fatigue’.
This explains a lot!!

Does any other teacher feel like the pandemic has conditioned parents and students to feel like attendance is optional? I’ve never had so many student absences.
I interviewed a teacher who resigned last year.
I asked…
Why did you resign?
“I have a Master’s degree.
I work really hard.
I love teaching kids and am great at my job.
I do it all for a disgracefully low salary.
All of that and I’ve never felt so disrespected by so many.”
Things teachers want to say to parents…
-Take the phone away at night. Your kid isn’t getting enough sleep.
-Don’t believe everything your kid says. They lie…A LOT!
-Teach your kid to have some grit. Also teach them to be nice!
-Stop blaming everyone for your kid’s issues.

A 12-year old girl was having difficulty with her math homework during the lockdown.
So she emailed her teacher for help.
He came over, brought his whiteboard, and taught her through the window.

Teacher:
Plans a great hands-on, fun lesson!
Student:
Slept for 2 hours the night prior because they’re addicted to TikTok
Administrator:
Comes in and notices uninterested, tired student and comments ‘’What do you think you can do for that student to make them more interested?”
As a teacher...
I’m tired of being blamed.
I’m tired of large class sizes.
I’m tired of the lack of support.
I’m tired of the lack of pay.
I’m tired of standardized testing.
I’m tired of the addition of tasks.
I’m tired of all the so-called ‘experts’.
I’M TIRED.
Schools are now structured so that the majority of student misbehaviors essentially have ZERO consequences…and that’s horrible for schools overall…but especially for the students that are not misbehaving.

JUST ONCE, I want to be part of a staff meeting where the agenda reads ‘Things We Are Removing From Teacher Plates.’
(In my 24 years of teaching, I’ve NEVER been this exhausted.)
“Shout out to all the teachers out there. Thank you teachers! It takes so much patience to deal with other people’s brats and try to influence them.”

This is horrible for teachers…but it’s even worse for the students who want to learn!

Please, please, please include teachers when forming committees that will decide when and how to safely reopen our schools.

Dr Fauci is now working 20-HOUR DAYS and his wife reminds him to eat, sleep, and drink. He is helping America try to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic at 79 years old. THIS GUY IS AMAZING!!

One of the most frustrating parts of being a teacher is hearing non-educators debate the operation of educational systems.
I’ve been on an airplane before, but certainly won’t debate the pilot on how to operate one.

2018, more teachers resigned from the profession than any other year PRIOR.
2019, that number was SURPASSED.
2020, that number AGAIN SURPASSED.
2021, BROKE ALL RECORDS making it the biggest teacher resignation year of all-time.
Question: Was anything learned?
Answer: No! 😔

This is Joshua. He was diagnosed with autism at 14 months old:
•He didn’t speak until 4
•Dealt with small motor & nervous system delays
•Has Dyslexia & ADHD
HE ALSO:
•Graduated 2nd in his class!
•Is the swim team captain!
•Was just accepted to his 1st college choice! 💪
Want to RETAIN teachers? Do THESE!
•Make smaller class sizes happen
•Listen and Advocate to teacher concerns
•Improve the response to student behavioral issues
•Increase planning time
•Improve salaries
•Let teachers TEACH!
ADMIN: Hey teachers, you need to remove everything from your room before the school year ends. That includes everything on the walls. We will be deep cleaning all surfaces.
TEACHER: Returns from summer break and notices no changes. 😠
In 2018, more teachers left the profession than any other year prior.
A year later, 2019, that number was surpassed.
In 2020, that record was again surpassed.
In 2021, AGAIN.
It’s rarely spoken of as the emergency it is. Teaching is simply an unsustainable career for many.

Another teacher friend just decided to make this year his last (12 years early).
I asked him why, he said
• Class sizes are ridiculous
• Zero accountability for parents, students 🙁
• Too much testing 😤
• Admin was overwhelmed & not helpful 😨
• Frozen salary, low pay

IF YOU THINK TEACHING IS…
•Easy
•Receive 3 months off, including holidays
•An 8am-3pm weekday job
•Receive a great pension you don’t pay into
•Everyone respects you
You’re in luck! America is currently short more than 300,000 teachers. Go get that great ‘easy’ job! 😜😂
Regardless your political leanings, it should be a requirement to have experience in education to be the Secretary of Education. You wouldn’t think this needs to be said. Let’s improve on this. 👍
Things teachers want to say to parents…
-Take the phone away at night. Your kid isn’t getting enough sleep.
-Don’t believe everything your kid says. They lie…A LOT!
-Teach your kid to have some grit.
•Model kind actions.

In Japanese schools, the students don't take any exams until 4th grade. WHY? The goal for the first few years of school is not to judge the child’s knowledge or learning, but to establish good manners & to develop their character.
Should this philosophy be implemented in the US?
Teacher: I feel so exhausted all the time
Central Office: Have you tried yoga or running or meditation
Let’s stop telling teachers to do yoga and meditate (UNLESS that’s what they want and choose to do). Instead, let’s advocate for making teaching a sustainable career!

It’s time for a 4-day school week in America!
