Let me be clear: I-82 is not working for DC. Restaurants are closing, workers are earning less, and this initiative is making it harder for businesses to stay competitive in our region. We need to repeal I-82 and give our hospitality workers and industry a fair shot.

The DC Council voted to pause Initiative 82, giving nightlife operators and workers much-needed relief as we reassess its impacts. Thank you to the @MayorBowser and Council Members who listened to our community and stood with small businesses during this critical time.

With DC’s liquor liability ISO score drop from 9 to 5, DC nightlife is now less risky to insure! We expect more insurers to enter the market. If you're renewing, reach out to your broker to ensure they have the updated score. DCNC is working to spread the word nationwide!

Big news for DC’s nightlife! Thanks to DCNC’s efforts with @councilofdc & @RAMWdc, the District’s liquor liability ISO score has dropped from 9 to 5, lowering insurance risks! This win wouldn’t have been possible without our members & @CMBrookePinto, @CMCHenderson & @CM_McDuffie

It was an honor to be recognized last night by @DCNightCouncil for my work to keep small music venues afloat during COVID and my push to partner with the #Hospitality industry to prevent violence and crime in the District. The work continues!

The budget saga continues as the Mayor returned an unsigned budget to DC Council stating they raised taxes on businesses to untested levels. “Let's be clear: the Council's fiscal decisions are setting the stage for additional tax hikes for our residents and businesses next year.”

A huge shout out to @CMZParker5 for hearing our operators and immediately taking action to address some of our concerns around the exorbitant and unnecessary burdens constantly being placed on our small businesses. Thank you!! #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #WashingtonDC

People can blame crime on DC Council or MPD all day long. But when criminals are being arrested & not detained or convicted due to the lax & lack of DC judges and low prosecution rates by the @USAO_DC what good are the laws passed or arrests made w no follow through? Unacceptable
🚨Confirmed: The suspect who allegedly shot a woman in the head was already charged with a gun felony at the time of the shooting & had been released pretrial by the judge. Security footage & his GPS monitor show him at the scene of the shooting & firing his 2nd illegal gun. (1/

This is great news for our small businesses. Thank you @charlesallen for pushing for this. #supportsmallbusiness
Big news for small biz, incl restaurants: Council to *double* Small Retailer Property Tax Credit + make more local biz eligible. This was part of my Small Business bill & is a direct way to help local biz w/ high costs. It’s part of how we both back neighborhood biz + downtown.

Placing the financial burden of the budget deficit on local biz w higher taxes is crushing. Forcing increased payroll w/elimination of tipped min wage means way higher payroll tax as is. Increasing sales tax when customers already say prices are too high?

Mayor Muriel Bowser is refusing to consider some tax changes even as she embraces others in her constrained new budget.
