Has a retired footballer given the definitive position on the BBC yet?

@karenvaites Honestly, my takeaway from this isn't that tracking is bad, it's that teachers can't be trusted to do it right. Which, functionally, might be the same thing.

The second paragraph of this is exactly why calling this a hard right political attack on the BBC is wrong. And Ed Davy agrees with me*: ‘The BBC…strategy…to replace the truth with propaganda…must…stop’ *using Panorama-style editing.
A free, independent BBC is vital to a free, informed democracy. Don’t let Trump’s America become Farage’s Britain.

This is an interesting defence of the BBC, ‘We could not resist the activists’, in that it could be applied to a number of organisations - some of which are still influenced by lobby groups to the detriment of their core mission.
Stephen Nolan is the first presenter on the BBC tonight to raise the issue of sex and gender coverage in-depth. He’s talking to former BBC executive @rogermosey

Russia: launches the largest war in Europe since World War Two, uses nerve agent and a radiological weapon in Britain, shoots down civilian airliners, attempts to push hundreds of thousands of migrants across European borders. “Ordinary” Russians: Why doesn’t Europe like us? 🥲

Irony of Yelland, Simpson & Robinson’s response is when presented with solid evidence of BBC failure they resort to evidence free conspiracy theory. They are the ones dumbing down journalism & imperilling our political discourse by doing away with need for evidence in assertions.
I agree with Nick. It is also true the campaign against the BBC is being fought by toxic forces with far less concern for accuracy and balance than the Beeb's news division. I'm sure, this time, Lisa Nandy, and her DCMS team, will call this right. Errors happen. We need the BBC.

It is literally true that the white poppy, here worn by @ZackPolanski, is a symbol of fascism. It’s sold by @PPUtoday, which was bluntly on Hitler’s side in WW2. John Middleton Murry, editor of the PPU journal Peace News, termed Nazism “the destined instrument” of European unity.

Respected voices like Simpson could be a powerful voice to drag the BBC back from the brink, instead he chooses to suggest that there isn’t an editorial problem - worsening the problem.
@PhilJonesy3 Thanks for this, Phil. I actually think my colleagues mostly do an excellent job, but there’s a powerful campaign to attack us. It comes from politicians and from newspapers with a commercial interest in abolishing the BBC. We shouldn’t necessarily believe what these people say.

Full credit to @barneyronay and the Guardian for publishing this and linking Manchester City to the RSF war crimes their owner is directly funding and supporting in Sudan.

Arrive at A&E 6:00am with medicines with elderly relative. By 7:00 am the hospital has already lost the medicines. Every 30 minutes a tannoy announcement tells you to bring your medicines to ensure appropriate care. Most of the relatives medicines are now 5 hours overdue. 🤦♂️

Just mental. You tax behaviour you want to discourage, because you know people will adjust their behaviour to minimise tax liability. So why the fuck, as our welfare bill is spiralling as a result of people not having pension savings, are we penalising saving for retirement
Rachel Reeves will announce a stealth tax raid on retirement savings, a move experts said would reduce take-home pay and cut the size of pension pots The chancellor is expected to use the budget to limit a tax break on pension contributions for both employers and employees to

As one who proudly spent nearly his whole career at the BBC, this piece is depressingly spot on….

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the reflagged Janjaweed in #Sudan, are either incapable of message discipline or are deliberately doing this as a means to terrorise their opponents. Here they are literally joking about committing "genocide". https://t.co/Ek5ZxqmQW2

They have been available for decades, used to mark Bonfire Night for centuries, why must normal people be punished because we can’t address the root causes of social decay and disorder? Time and again the response is make life harder for the majority to limit issues with minority

Pushing people out of cash ISAs and then controlling their investment choices is yet another over-controlling idea. If the UK economy was actually worth investing in, people would do so.
