Another excellent reason why Pensions for Police Dogs will never fly. This is an horrific thought and one Iβd not considered. I am now further convinced itβs a terrible idea. I wonder if those promoting the βcauseβ had thought of this possible consequence. Probably not.
@CotswoldLadyB @AssociationRPDs @The_NFRSA @tiredpawshmpdog Whilst morally understandable, publicly funded pensions might result in the welfare of these dogs being placed in jeopardy, not protected as intended. We have thankfully moved away from routinely PTS service animals at the end of their service. We must not open that door again.

As I was saying - Pensions for Police Dogs isnβt going to happen in a year of Sundays - let alone a month. Letβs leave it to the @AssociationRPDs - @The_NFRSA - and @tiredpawshmpdog - all of whom do an amazing job, and know what theyβre doing. Getting yourself on telly is all.
@CotswoldLadyB @The_NFRSA The attached copy correspondence* from the Home Office is relevant and confirms the Governments position. Morally, life long support for these animals should be provided,but reality is that charities are the best vehicle to achieve support,when and where needed. *SD is not an MP

To be fair - my actual birthday was back in June, but we waited until this weekend as we wanted to invite everyone to come and join us, and not have to rush off on a Sunday night back to work. It was totally worth that wait. Best. Weekend. Ever. AND we celebrated @RPDSnapβs.
Itβs been the weekend of all weekends. We met so many members of our family, supporters, corporate partners, owners, handlers, and officers. But most importantly - dogs. Soooo many dogs! Members - grant recipients - and family pooches. We came together and made new friends,
