Leaving this affirmation here for myself: You are a 1st gen black queer woman who defies odds daily. It’s okay to take extra time to apply to grad school if it means being financially stable and happy along the way. You are that girl always. Periodt 💕

Do not use the term “late-term abortion.” The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists defines late term as 41 weeks through 41 weeks and 6 days of gestation, and abortion does not happen in this period.

For the first time in ever, I’m actually putting in effort to prepare for grad school. Took me about 5 years, but it was worth the wait to build my strong and might community. Anyway, I have to move my cat and get back to work.

Extremely exciting news! @TrevonDLogan is an amazing economist and great to work with! I highly encourage y’all to apply especially those who enjoy blending Black History with economics. Dr. Logan is top tier!
COMING SOON: I will be sponsoring a pre-doc (2 year position) beginning Summer 2024. Particularly well suited to students with very strong records in Black Studies and/or Black history & with related interest in economic history, health economics, & other applied econ topics.

There needs to be a mandatory class in high school on money and banking. The best course I took in college was Money and Banking which focused heavily on monetary policy, the Fed, recession reactions, and of course inflation. This needs to be knowledge everyone has.

My bill, The Food Secure Strikers Act, will allow striking workers to qualify for SNAP benefits. No one should go hungry because they're fighting for their rights. https://t.co/vgZHJt3uIv

Rage of the day: UC System is exempt from specific CA labor code, specifically when it comes to paying out workers on their last day. No system should have the ability to ignore labor laws.

A hill I will die on: for research to be inclusive it must reflect and address the needs of the community while discussing the role systemic barriers play in creating those needs. Adding a race or gender variable to a model without addressing anything isn’t inclusive research.

As #PrideMonth comes to an end, we must continue to remind ourselves that the fight for a truly inclusive future – a future where everyone can participate fully in our communities, workplaces, and economy – can’t be limited to just one month of the year. A thread 🧵 (1/5)

In 2019 my friend gave me a journal for Xmas with “Small Notes, for Big Ideas” written on the cover. I’ve filled it with research idea after research idea. I love flipping through the pages and seeing my growth. Can’t wait to make these ideas even bigger. 🥰
