In times of rapid unexpected change like we had with the immigration surge last year, measuring labor market growth is really challenging. We find growth in both US-born and foreign-born employment.
NEW: Employment growth of both U.S.-born and foreign-born people in the U.S. exceeded published estimates, @WendyEdelberg and @taraelizwaton find. Contrary to published estimates, employment grew for U.S.-born workers in 2023. 🧵
