New Years Eve is difficult as it forces reflection. I began 2022 with a mother, an 11 yr relationship, a secure job in a team that were like family, a forever home, fab neighbours and nearby friends, two gorgeous cats and the sweetest soul of a dog.
I lost all of that this year.
It's just occurred to me that verrucas were taken very seriously in the 70s weren't they?
I mean, sexual harassment & smoking at work was fine, drink driving was sort of allowed, seat belts were optional BUT you had to wear a little sock thing to avoid spreading verrucas.
Looking to connect with like minded folk into books

What is it the kids* say... Looking for moots aged 45+ into crime / psych thrillers, cats, dogs, coffee
*pretty sure the kids don't say this
The perfect shot - all four looking out at once! Can you see them?
Dog owner near to me has four huskies & rightly keeps them securely locked in. But the

couldn't see what was going on so they cut out viewing holes for them 🤣 👀👀👀👀

It's my mum's funeral tomorrow twitter.
I don't know what to wear. I don't know what to expect. I don't know what to feel and I don't know what people will expect from me.
I do know that I wish I didn't have to go, and I wish I wasn't having to do it alone.
FINAL STRAW!
we've coped with:
the pandemic
schools being shut
not being allowed out
no bread, no pasta, no toilet roll
not seeing our friends and families
But.
Now
#NetGalley
is down and it all feels a bit too much!
Gah!
And for some, it's multiples of these ❤️ That last line is perfect, be kind, be generous, give love, give help; if nothing else, just don't give people a hard time 🤗
I think 50% of twitter will LOVE this and 50% will think it is DISGUSTING... Which are you?
We were at a
@KittyCafeUK1
on Sunday, soon as our tea was, served this fella pounced!
Paid for a man's shopping today.
My son said "That was nice, but why would you?"
I did it because I heard his card rejected twice, he had a trolley of food and two little kids who were quiet as mice.
I did it because I will NEVER forget how awful it felt when it happened to me
My little world is imploding and my heart is breaking but a lovely friend dragged me to see
@GaryBarlow
tonight and he is right 'music makes the world a little better'
Thank you Gary.

Funny old day. Scattered mum's ashes at the beach. She loved beaches and would always paddle in the sea so it seemed apt. I found it really hard to have any emotional connection to the little box of ashes though. I feel like I did the right thing for her
Eldest got uni results today. First class BA (Hons) in mathematics from Durham. Going on to do a masters. Anyone who has followed me for a while will know he is the product of a broken home✅ raised by single mum✅ went to an average school ✅ He's bloody brilliant ✅
Birthday Wish...
I would love to get to 1750 by the end of the day ♥️

3% into The Seventh Victim and I would 100% have known it was a

Well NOW I feel old, a friend has just sent me these from our clubbing days 🤣😍
I loved those shoes 😎
And, just to age it further, there's a phone on the chair... One that's plugged into the wall 😱

I raised my boys with it being open ended who they might date, I would say things like 'your future partner', or 'your girlfirend/boyfriend'. I am sorry your mum was shocked, I expect she massively regrets it. Add me to your list of twitter aunties 😊
Exciting for a Tuesday, first a power cut and then a random dog appeared in the garden. Let it in while I tried to work out where it lived and it stole my slipper.
So, how was your day? And frankly if you hadn't rescued a bat from a classroom of screaming children by 9.30 am then we have nothing to discuss

I cannot stress this enough. I WAS HELD CAPTIVE by this book. I HAD TO FINISH IT. It made me want to commit murder. YOU NEED TO READ IT. There. That should do it :)
My 1st standalone book is out next week. Most bookshops are closed. I’m v sad about this but I’m also v happy booksellers don’t have to put themselves at risk
If you’d like The Last Thing to Burn try contacting your local store. They should be able to get it to you in a safe way
More positive thoughts for tomorrow please folks. Ended up being an 11 hour operation and they are keeping her in a medically induced coma for next 48 hours ♥️
For anyone who needs to hear this tonight - I am very happy you exist 💚
You may not want to exist right now,
But someone is very happy that you do,
Stay for them 💜
Stay for future you 💙
OK so this time it actually made it to the post office and is ON ITS WAY! Whoop whoop

so if you are a Nicola... my gift might be for you 🎁🎄📦

Feeding a friend's cat and for reason I tell it everything I'm doing, like it might report back or something. Opens drawer, "I wonder if mummy keeps the clingfilm in here?" "Oh aren't mummy's drawers tidy" "I'm just going in the fridge to look for your dinner."
@littlesilverhog
Oh you poor thing, that's just rubbish. Why do you need to pay fees if you aren't petitioning? Have you checked with CAB if that's right? Please treat yourself you nice things even free things like a bath, watch a film etc xxx
Don't be fooled, this is the nonchalant pose of a dog who buried my sock so well while I was on a work call that I cannot find it at all!

Thank you for all the good wishes and positive thoughts for mum's operation. Although the
#NHS
staff were fabulous and took very good care of her, sadly on Tuesday she deteriorated and they couldn't save her. She had 78 good years and made lots of friends along the way

Most poignant parenting phrase I've read in a long time, and it's from a

book.
You are only ever as happy as your saddest child.
So, so true ♥️

Lunch at Sherlock's, Whitby. I sat at the back in a little dark booth. Guy sat at a nearby table, jumped out of his skin then laughed. Odd, I thought. When his partner sat they spoke & then he turned to me & said
'So sorry, I'd thought you were a fortune teller.'
