"I don't put pressure on them about their shooting. I put pressure on them on how hard they play, how hard they run, how much effort they give, how much passion they play with. Those are my stats."

Dear young athletes- keep this photo saved to your phone and show the next person who says you have to focus on one sport in HS. The amount of kids I’ve heard say “I can’t risk getting hurt” or “my coach won’t let me” drives me crazy. You get one shot to be a HS athlete.

RESPONDING TO MISTAKES "I'm letting the team down because I turned the ball over ... missed a shot ... blew a defensive assignment. No, you're letting the team down when it parlays into 4 or 5 possessions after that. Pick yourself up... You're playing a game that's imperfect."

"A lot of players don't understand what it takes. They think it's just going to be their skill level - and it's really not." It's not just desire. It's discipline. It's not just wanting. It's work. It’s not just what you can do; it’s what you choose to do.

Honored to be invited back to celebrate the 2004 state championship @RufusKingHoops team at the HOF banquet. It was my first coaching job with Coach Jim Gosz and Coach Al Jackson. Great group of people and great memories!

Here are the facts that brought me over to Kahloon's thesis: grades and graduation levels went UP even as students' abilities were going DOWN, in the 2010s:

“The most important thing to me was our mindset. We believed, expected, prepared to make it happen and could handle the ups and downs of the game without flinching, showing frustration, anxiety. We passed that test,” Curt Cignetti Winners practice being winners.
