Oddly, for ‘charities’ within the US (as opposed to proving benefits outside US) there is no rating of their actual utility, even at crudest level (eg $ to recipients vs management). Note: for ex-US there is.
The numbers are worse when you add more context. From 2019-2024, her “charity” raised $5.2 million. She paid *herself* $1.2 million of that while giving out only $700k in grants. The level of abuse of non-profits in this country by activists is insane.

Good thread. A broad qualitative fact I would note is that there is substantial net migration of left-wing professors from Europe to the United States.
Is it dramatic? No. Western EU is a nice place to live, with plenty of enjoyable amenities to make up for a lower consumption and standard of living. But consumption (esp. of tradable goods, like cars, tech, global tourism) is indeed lower, and the gap is growing.

Something I did not know until research today.... In INS v. Lopez-Mendoza the Supreme Court held that because deportation is a CIVIL proceeding, the Fifth Amendment right to remain silent does not apply. If a suspected illegal alien is asked a question but does not answer, the

Mind-blowing chart of the week here. Southern Europe has, for perhaps the first time in modern history, a lower headline unemployment rate than Northern Europe.

You know things are bad when The Atlantic prints this sentence: "Many California policies read as if they were reverse-engineered from Republican attack ads."

Davos is basically all the people who have created the problems, denied their existence and then called us names for pointing them out... explaining what the problems are and how we desperately need to fix them.
German Chancellor Merz admits: Both Germany and Europe have wasted incredible potential for growth in recent years by dragging their feet on reforms and by unnecessarily and excessively curtailing entrepreneurial freedom and personal responsibility. We must substantially

NPR running a segment on “labor, environmentalists, social justice community groups,” trying to extort Micron’s new memory fab in NY for each of their respective objectives. Litigating every inch of progress in a crisis. 🙃🫠
Computers run literally everything in society. This should be an all-hands-on-deck supply-side, industrial policy emergency. We should be doing Manhattan project level crash program to scale up memory and chip manufacturing here. Instead we have Luddites trying to ban progress

“Europe is 12% world pop, 25% world GDP and 60% world welfare expenditures”. Allowance of this disconnect assumes rest of world won’t eat Europe alive.
In Europe, we’ve felt so safe and comfortable that we’ve been able to indulge in all sorts of loony ideas without consequences. Well, the consequences are here now.

hey question btw: why, as a reasonable human in tech who does not want to be liquidated by a marxist thug, are you advertising on the pivot pod? these people genuinely hate you, you could simply decline to give them money.

Many blame the UC Regents for banning the use of the SAT in admissions. I watched the full board meeting in the archives. The truth is many Regents supported keeping the SAT, but they were pressured away from doing so by then-UC President Janet Napolitano.

I still can't believe Lagarde actually said these words out loud: "Europe is going to do a big SWOT analysis and decide what do we need to do to be strong by ourselves." Never has there been a clearer distillation of just how ill-suited the managerial class, with their MBA

This is disgusting. This cheapens the Holocaust. It's 1940. Gestapo knocks at your door. Where are you going to wind up? No, not in a camp designed to kill you, but you're gonna get sent HOME. And, you can just go there with $1,000 in your pocket if you say "ok, I'll

The whole "just go out and vote because it's important" meme was always a lie that's predicated on the liberal belief that greater turnout objectively helps them.
The hilarious part of this story is not that it completely backfired on her, but then she just drops her “friend” once she doesn’t get what she wants from him. A selfish species indeed Sara.

You laugh, but home cooking is perhaps the final frontier in the slow death of domestic production. Few grow their own grain or spin their own cloth, and gradually, fewer are cooking their own food. There WILL be a market for apartments without kitchens.
I've talked to my coworker every day for a year. He just now told me he has no kitchen. He had a kitchen and had all the kitchen stuff removed in 2023. He keeps saying "Imagine everything in a kitchen. None of that is there." He's saying he hasn't had a sink for 3 years

The crazier Trump gets, the more the Dems think they can get away with their own insanity. This is the real Trump Derangement Syndrome. Voters would rather have "let's invade Greenland" than "we'll trans your kids".
We'll see, but for now the Dems are still more disliked because they still refuse to moderate. Race to the bottom, with the country as the biggest loser.

it's funny, but par for the course, that this runs directly under Bel Air but there will be no station there.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Thursday unanimously approved a high‑speed rail plan linking the San Fernando Valley and the Westside through the Sepulveda Pass. Full Story: https://t.co/bIYlrCOrdc
