It’s time to release the support children and their parents need from behind bureaucratic barriers so they can get the help they need when they need it. I spoke to Jacob Rees-Mogg on @GBNEWS this evening about SEND reform and today’s @IPPR @TheDifferenceEd report.
11 million school days lost in just one term—many children never returning to class. Loic Menzies warns of a growing crisis, with poverty-hit families most affected. His solution? An £850m fund to tackle the issue \before it’s too late\.

Kat is right. We need more female school leaders talking up female school leaders. I’m privileged to have worked with many over the years, including @rekha_dhinsa, @Claire_Heald, my associate assistant principal @R_Atton and my CEO @vianclark, all doing amazing things
We *must* find opportunities to talk up women in the sector and especially leadership. It is becoming increasingly difficult to read all male shout outs, but especially when it is women that are omitting women from the conversation.

Brilliant piece from @knowledgerich on the current issues around the position of RE in schools. And strong proposals for how we might sensibly address these. Also love this being framed through Yeats’ poetry!
🤓Get your geek on!!! ⁉️What does Yeats’ poetry have to do with England’s curriculum and assessment review?? 🤯Maybe everything! 👩🏫Inspired by those English teachers who have helped me to think about education through different eyes https://t.co/MKbybHZrUV

➡️What if... the system was restructured as an 'all-through' model A challenging, fascinating think piece about the numerous benefits - financial, academic, pastoral and more - @Claire_Heald believes would occur if we set the system up as 'all-through' https://t.co/XecTs8zm0K

Developing oracy is of course a good thing but there are risks around starting to see it as something separate to reading and writing.
schoolsweek.co.uk
It's a superficially appealing idea, but there are real risks of separating oracy out from wider literacy

This is such an important report. Exclusion from learning in all its various forms is something we must work together as a sector to tackle, particularly for our most vulnerable pupils
