Here is an NHS trust explicitly documenting the risk that replacing doctors with PAs in child protection assessments may lead to paedophiles/abusers not being successfully prosecuted... ... yet choosing to go ahead regardless. How is this not a national scandal? @CQCProf
Is the truth finally emerging? @AlderHey corporate risk register đ "There is a risk that Child Protection (CP) Medical Examinations completed by Physician Associates (PAs) may not result in successful prosecution due PAs not being recognised as 'Professional Witnesses'."

Quote âAllied health professionals siphon off the âeasyâ consultations, ratcheting up the pressure on GP workload. This is a complexity loop that deepens the crisisâ â Ah complex systems. When will we learn and stop linear thinking?
Wow! Hits the nail on the head. This editorial traces the deprofessionalisation of NHS general practice. The legacy of austerity, bad politics and a proud profession caving in to box ticking. @BJGPjournal @ICGPnews @HSELive DOI:

January is #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth. Cervical cancer is a cancer that's found anywhere in the cervix. It's most common in women aged between 30 and 35, but it can happen at any age.

Lifestyle measures such as regular exercise, not smoking and a nutritious diet are essential to maintain health. But they need to be supplemented â when needed - with medication for long-term conditions. Both under-treatment and over-treatment with drugs are important challenges.

https://t.co/c66AugqRE2. For every 72 people waiting 8-12 hours before admission there is one additional death within 30 days.
emj.bmj.com
Background Delays to timely admission from emergency departments (EDs) are known to harm patients. Objective To assess and quantify the increased risk of death resulting from delays to inpatient...
Last year 14,000 people died needlessly from 12+ hour waits in A&E đł Thatâs not like road fatalities, where modern life means sadly thereâll always be some. Thatâs a number that should & could be zero. Extraordinary nugget from @RCollEM in @thetimes by @cazjwheeler @Ben_Spencer

People going on about the importance of prevention. Well of course. But without acknowledging the conscious underfunding and undermining of UK public health itâs just sound bites/âpublic healthâ lite, not the hard deep work of addressing inequality

The Government seems to have come into power with no ideas. Social care being the latest example. Years to prepare & plenty of evidence of the problems. A commission or report will tell you what we already know. A lack of a plan seems to be the message, words but little action.
Today the government announced a new independent commission on social care, led by Baroness Louise Casey of Blackstock. @homecareassn

GPs are often blamed for the problems of the NHS Reality is somewhat different, since 2019 GPs have been providing 5million MORE appts per month (31million) with 20% less ÂŁ/patient For context A&E has 2.2m attendances âŹď¸200k Out-Patients 8.7m Ambulance calls 750k (no change)

@mancunianmedic Disappointing that @UKLabour didnât have most of their social care plan worked out in opposition. Presumably some details wouldnât be available to them in opposition, but to be so ill prepared as to require a 3 yr delay for implementation really is ridiculous. @wesstreeting

@timspector The biggest mistake was re-opening schools without any attempt to mitigate the spread of Covid in crowded poorly-ventilated classrooms. There is now a mountain of evidence about the harm that repeated Covid infections have caused (and are CONTINUING to cause) to our children.
According to ONS data, the number of children with Long Covid nearly DOUBLED in a year (between March 2023 & March 2024), soaring to over 111K kids in England & Scotland. Thatâs more than 1,000 new cases of Long Covid in kids PER WEEK just in England & Scotland across the year.

Just a reminder, we have our own online tribute site, where anyone bereaved by covid can upload a photo and a dedication. Those who think covid was âjust a coldâ would do well to spend time looking at some of these faces, & reading the words of grief. https://t.co/O5tghDxsB3
