So much techno-utopianism about AI, particularly from @InstituteGC, in recent months. Even the tiniest amount of experience of delivering digital/data/AI systems in the public sector would reveal it's a bit more complicated than that. 🧵 Ten challenges that need to be tackled

New report from us today on how more and more people are being priced out of car insurance. This isn't felt evenly. Two years on from our first report, we still see an ethnicity penalty with people of colour paying >£300 more for car insurance. We need solutions from @TheFCA 👇
2 years ago we found that people of colour were paying £250 more for car insurance than white people. New research shows the gap has widened, and now stands at over £300. The FCA must act. Read our new report here:

#PrideMonth marks the Stonewall riots of June 1969 where people came together to protest for LGBTQ+ equality. We celebrate it every year to mark how far the movement has come and what still needs to be done to help ensure fair treatment for all without discrimination 🏳️🌈

It’s the last year I can access their services, and I firmly hope it’s not the last year young people in leeds can access this vital service. What it could mean is young people having to navigate complex and hard to access mental health services alone

‘If I spoke up about it, I’d be fired on the spot’. Therein is the disconnect between orgs that talk the talk in their HR policies, but where too many employees have stories of racism, misogyny, homophobia and bullying that go unsaid & unchallenged
Here's just a small selection of clips from the huge number of negative Glassdoor reviews made by employees and former employees of Conservative donor Frank Hester's company TPP. As of now Downing Street is still refusing to label Hester's comments about Diane Abbott as racist.

New blog from me: What's a statutory consumer advocate and why do we matter? TLDR: We're an early warning system, counterbalance to the powerful industry lobby and get into the weeds of technical debates so consumers don't have to.
