Thank you both for taking the time to listen and engage with this vital work and the crucial role of services like GMVS. It was encouraging to hear the Minister’s clear commitment to improving support for victims and the steps being taken nationally to strengthen the system.

These conversations feel even more pertinent following the horrific attack in Sydney over the weekend and the aftermath that may also be felt across communities in the UK.

The visit provided an important opportunity to reflect on our response following the Manchester synagogue attack in October, and to discuss the wider impact of terrorism, hate crime, and antisemitism.

Yesterday, we welcomed @AlexDaviesJones MP, Minister for Victims and Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls, and Kate Green, @DeputyMayorofGM to our Greater Manchester Victims’ Service (GMVS).

A big step forward in helping people move into meaningful work, with tech and AI enhancing support rather than replacing it. We’re excited to see how this transformation will improve the journey for job seekers across the country.

@AndrewHWestern reinforced a core principle: “digital where possible, human where needed.” The focus is on services that start with the person, not the process, and on freeing up work coaches to spend more time on meaningful, human support.

We got a first look at an AI-driven platform designed to support job seekers, whether unemployed or looking to change roles, to find opportunities that genuinely fit their needs and aspirations.

Yesterday we met with @LabourSJ and Merseyside Police to discuss tackling criminal exploitation & county lines. We highlighted our #DrawingTheLine campaign, shared real stories, and highlighted how we support exploited young people, including girls with often hidden experiences.

Ending county lines and criminal exploitation requires strong cross-sector collaboration. With partners like the @BTP and @missingpeople we not only support child victims into safety and protect their futures, but also use our voices to push for real and wider change.

That’s why we’re launching Drawing the Line, because no child should become a victim of violence, county lines or exploitation.

89% of young people supported by our county lines and exploitation services are under 18, sometimes as young as 8. This is child abuse, yet too often, these children are treated as criminals instead of victims.

Every day across the UK, hundreds of children and young people are being exploited, groomed, and forced to commit crimes. Trapped in coercion, threats and violence, their safety and futures are at stake.
