Ok, so for those who like Fanfiction, and those who like Fanfiction featuring Gotham’s top furries, here’s a thread of my efforts so far. Read on at your peril..

I can’t BELIEVE we’re dragging Neil for his Tolkien adaptation and no-one’s mentioning his appalling attempt to restore the ‘Ecce Homo’ fresco. ‘Behold the man’ indeed! Hmph.
@SwayzeeSoul
@DCComics
@Netflix_Sandman
@neilhimself
You should probably actually read Sandman before getting all outraged about the casting. I could point out Lucifer is sexless & androgynous in the series but again, as you haven’t read it this will mean nothing to you, so…
@Aleric45
@Antoinerayner87
Pretty much ditto to all the responses here, plus it’s worth pointing out that the likely historical inspiration for the Amazons were the Scythians.
Who weren’t European. And certainly not Greek.
@AnneComics
Selina…is bad. Paper thin and a plot that clearly, no-one had put any work into. Ivy comes out of it fine by virtue of not being in it much.
Harley= awful. She has zero development.
And if I was a Talia fan, I’d be wondering why Rocksteady hated her so much. Bloody Hell…
@Guslivesagain
Selina definitely. Alfred probably got salty about the cup marks and I’d bet one of Cass or Steph’s drinks went everywhere during an evasive manoeuvre…
@starflash24
@maydaohio
@proustmalone
Hey, nomad here. My ancestors & relatives don’t choose their lifestyle per se-it’s a legacy over many generations of being adapted to a nomadic lifestyle. This is not that.This is poverty. This is the failure of social institutions repackaged as some kind of ‘victory’.
@Telegraph
He put a pupil at risk. Whatever you think of 'misgendering' as a thing, his decision to go on national television to talk about a young person who could be easily identified was disgraceful conduct.
Exactly. My friend’s sister used to work for Eccleston & she casually mentioned how her wee neice (friend’s daughter) loved Who. Without being asked, a whole box of Dr Who toys & a signed photo arrived at my friend’s place, from Chris. He cares alright.
I love Chris Eccleston's attitude because he's very mercenary about the part but if you've listened to the audios...he's great! "fuck you, pay me" in no way translates to him not giving a shit, he absolutely brings his a-game cause you paid him to
@TheBat_Family
It was…a ride. The yellow Batman bit WAS funny -like Batman ‘66 but for 90s edgelordism. The stuff with Robin was awful, ugly crap though, and I was pretty much done making excuses for Miller at that point.
@theSNYDERVERSE
It's fascinating to watch people act as if filmmakers referencing off each other and nicking ideas is somehow new, or the first time it's ever happened. Reeves probably thought this setup worth borrowing but the composition, framing and execution is his own twist on that.
A really clever thread, in that it gives the impression of in depth analysis while staying resolutely at surface level. It’s a nice arrangement of words but we obviously watched entirely different films…
@TheBat_Family
I love that his Batman / Catwoman series is him making commentary on a sexist stance in their relationship that he literally made up in his own Batman run.
Ok, let’s talk about Mindy Newell and why, next to Bill Finger, she’s the most important Catwoman writer of all time.
That is not hyperbole on my part. 🧵
#catwoman
@Korisolos
@claygirl13
The Batfamily isnt a team: it’s based on kinship, connection and the past. So I agree on Harley - there is no logic in her joining, or being accepted. But Jason? Yeah he’s the blacksheep, but you don’t shake off those ties just like that.
I remember ‘Helena’, Tom King/Mikel Janin’s story for the

80th came in for criticism from some fans (including ones I really respect!), but as someone who went through what these experiences, I really appreciated it. I think it rings true, and here’s why: 🧵
Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons by

@Philjimeneznyc
is just…incredible. I spent my first read turning the air blue with awe-struck expletives as I turned each page. I can understand exactly why this took six years. It looks gorgeous…
@matt_vanarsdall
@SpiderKnightART
You mean evolutionary theory. But your understanding of human evolution is as ropey as the X-Men’s writers often is. Erectus were gone before sapiens emerged. And everything we learn about Neanderthals lessens the differences between them & Sapiens, and confirms their humanity.
@RBalyorugulu
@MaleWifeGrayson
@MarcosSinx00
@YellowFlashGuy
You mean the series that originated as a conflict between stand-ins for MLK and Malcolm X? Or whose most seminal run was an ongoing commentary on race and sexuality in 1980s America and overtly feminist? That one? Because If so, I wouldn’t read it. It’d REALLY upset you.
@ceydvd
This was the premise of Gotham City Sirens. Selina was hanging with Harley and Ivy to mitigate the damage they could do and was hoping they might reform.
@TheBat_Family
I think of that 70% though, about 30% of it is just it being a bad idea at heart, and 70% is just bad writing or editorial forcing needless conflict.
@kevin_guyan
@AnnelieseDodds
The Scottisg GRR had cross-party support Anneliese, after years of development. You're not just lying, you're throwing your own colleagues under the bus.
@therightram
I think the operative word here is ‘fix’. They can, and should *face* real world problems, but the matter of actually fixing them is a question that should be left open to the audience.
Hey
@DCOfficial
! You seem very spotty on the history of major DC character Catwoman, so I thought I'd help.
This is what Black Mask did to Catwoman's sister Maggie:
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: You know, for the money you could spend being made miserable by
#gothamwar
, you could put a decent chunk towards the Catwoman of East End Omnibus. Or get most of it and Genevieve Valentine's N52 run digitally.
You're welcome.

@FYF_4295
@IAMSHUBEAR
@moonyTbaby
@atikkat
Leaving aside the evident stupidity of buying a check mark, the actual point is: they’re washing the muck off the tatties. You can still see some clinging to the potato Mr Smiley Man is holding at the end.
@Lessons_History
@malmuhta
@MiddleearthMixr
They were heavily armed thugs who took their business elsewhere if they didn’t get paid. Chivalry was used to paper over a violent, exploitative system.
So Catwoman
#50
eh?
…I mean bloody Hell
@DCComics
what did Catwoman readers ever do to you?
Would it help if we said we were sorry for…whatever it was?
Others have admirably covered the main ones but one that always peeves me is the shallow assumption that she has no ethics and is only ever in it for herself. She has a code, she has her East End to protect. Protecting women is not something she just ditches when it suits her.
@cell_0801
He doesn’t do middle ground I think. He’s either nailing it spectacularly or missing wildly. I really wish he’d get over his Catwoman fixation because the way he writes her these days is bloody awful.
Shallow readings of BatCat position them as opposites. But go beneath the surface and they hit the same notes. Both feel keenly the guilt of survival. Both think the worst of themselves. Both, at the crucial point, prove themselves wrong.
Brubaker would put me through Hell but I’d come out of it stronger and sexier.
@GailSimone
…would also put me through Hell, but my one liners would be sensational.
@WorldOfTigra
@catboyamato
Well if I also submitted my doctoral thesis on ‘character deformation in the post-Flashpoint Catwoman era’ have the beginnings of a pretty shit-hot Faculty…
@CoolComicArt
I still hate it, the ramifications it had for other titles, and its cheap exploitation of rape with a passion. And yet on a purely technical level, it's well put together.
@AnneComics
True. She gets a blip of sorts which is as close to an anyone in City gets- although, Batman is varied in how stupid he is…sometimes very stupid, at others very very stupid.
I do love the games but they were better at giving the *feeling* of depth than actually achieving it.
So I’ve been catching up fully with Ram V’s ‘Tec run and I’m struck by two things:
1) its superb. Art, writing, the way the narrative structure meshes -it’s some of Ram’s finest work.
Brubaker’s Catwoman - there’s even an art style that works perfectly for animation. Three seasons of about 12 episodes each would work perfectly…
As a second choice -
@GailSimone
‘s domino run would be insanely good fun.
Okay so say you had the chance to create an animated comic book series but you were only allowed to adapt one specific run of that character or team. Which run are you going with?
@thecomicdevil
A groomer/child r*pist is a potentially interesting villain, especially when his main enemies are children/young people who routinely kick his ass.
Unfortunately DC and certain sections of fandom want to make him ‘cool’. He’s also incredibly dull when used as a Bat-villain.
What's happening in Italy is going to have such a terrible effect on Romani people there - who, to be clear, are already being treated in a disgusting fashion. Just remember; it always starts with Roma. But it never ends there.
@skintheghost
@YorwerthBont
@IwriteOK
Aye, we were culpable for Empire, as well as being f*cked up by it. What was worse was that Scots elites participated in wholesale ‘clearance’ a.k.a ethnic cleansing of our own mostly Gaidhlig speaking highland/island populations following the civil wars in 1715 and 1745.
This moment between Selina and Holly demonstrates the truth behind
@GailSimone
’s recent thread on the importance of fleshed out ‘side characters’. Here we see that theirs is a true friendship: Holly calls Selina out, & doesn’t give any ground when she snaps back.
#catwoman
Happy birthday to the 'villain' who was often a better hero than the alleged heroes, the anti-hero who always knew what real evil was & the thief who always does it in style. Oh, and 50% of the hottest romantic pairing in comics. (I don't make the rules...)
This first page for example: Selina’s…reluctant while Bruce smiles. Some people read this in very negative terms but…1) note the timing & 2) do we honestly think Bruce would force Selina to do something she didn’t want to & 3) that Selina would LET him?
Just think what a writer like G. Willow Wilson, Ram V or Brubaker could have done with that premise. How the intelligent, astute and grounded Selina they wrote would have taken on the power-structures of Gotham’s over-and-underworlds. It could have been an all time classic…
#GothamWar
will go down as one of the most boring, convoluted, messy BatFamily events in modern times. The authors have successfully made everyone look like complete idiots to the point where the damage done to won’t get fixed until we get new creative teams
Jervis Tetch is a deranged, misogynist creep who gaslights women into being his 'Alice' & violates their agency.
Why have we never seen Catwoman go up against him? She should absolutely LOATHE him. Or at the very least, see him as a dangerous element that can't be tolerated.
@Why_Of_Orion
His motives are to be questioned, but I value the sex worker back story for Selina. It gives her decision to protect the East End and those who fall through the cracks more weight.
So OBD Catwoman was very, very impressive. From the very first caption, Wilson’s grasp of Selina is firm and assured. She understands both the psychological and political dimensions of the character, and how these have created the Catwoman we know.
#Catwoman
This is a quick thread about stupid things said about Batman (2016) issues 34-35 and all three of the main characters in it, namely that as Selina has never fought with a sword before, she shouldn’t beat Talia.
To which I merely shake my head and tap these two images…
We can finally talk about it. The Justice League was formed AFTER Arkham Knight. I always assumed before but I was wrong. Basically, the other heroes found Batman after Arkham Knight and helped Bruce in his new life, forming the League! Pretty awesome! Thoughts?
So much infuriates me about current
#catwoman
but as I've already ranted about her making nice with Black Mask, betraying Maggie & have honestly never given less of a shit about fucking BatCat than I have right now, I want to focus on the worst thing about this whole premise...
But the wee b*gger won me round. She broke through, and now…I can’t put into words, or pictures.
But this story does a damn fine job of it. Which is why I’ll always be grateful for it. So Tom King, Mikel Janin? Thanks lads!
Clark Kent is a shy dorky guy with buckets of charm and a profound respect for women. Incels are hateful losers, twisted by entitlement and the lies they’ve chosen to embrace in order to excuse their cowardice and failure.
Superman is an incel. He's supposed to be a huge dork. He doesn't have chemistry with anybody because he's technically an alien. The whole essence of the character is a nerd fantasy, written and created by nerds in the 1930's
They’re both superb. Zoe is the most accurate to the comics, while Michelle is the best of what Tim Burton’s off kilter reimagining of Batman had to offer.
