Today's #GoogleDoodle celebrates Japanese inventor Seiichi Miyake. In 1965, Miyake spent his own money to invent tactile blocks or Tenji blocks in an effort to help his friend navigate. Today, these raised bumps & bars are used on sidewalks & in public spaces around the world!

Guide Dog Tip #1 : Harness on means hands off. A guide dog in harness means “I’m working.” Petting can take the dog’s focus off its partner and the potential for injury increases. The handler may decide to remove the harness and let you pet the guide dog. Always ask first.

On Sunday mornings in Halifax, future #CNIBGuideDogs can often be found at Ardmore Park – an enclosed park that was created especially for service dogs. After an hour of running and playing, sharing toys, and burning off energy, they usually all hunker down for a long nap!
