A couple of weeks after my Mom died last fall, my neighbour asked if he could have a piece of a fallen tree from her garden. Today, he presented me with this beautiful handmade bowl from my mother's tree, he caught me speechless!

Earlier this year, Canadians from all walks of life came together to help Yaman, an 8-year old Syrian refugee, fulfill his dream of playing hockey in Newfoundland.

It is with great sadness that I announce that my sweet mother died yesterday. She loved her 11 grandchildren and was a fixture at their school events plus their hockey, baseball, basketball and rugby games. She was strong, loving and, most of all forgiving. We will miss her!

Zakaria arrived in Canada a few years ago. He just started playing hockey this year. Yesterday his teammates wanted him to accept the Banner & Trophy for the Clark Howell Memorial Tournament. Clark's brother Aaron & Parents presented the hardware. Zak is a big part of our team!

Met a young Ukrainian couple today & chatted for 1/2 hour. I was amazed at their excitement to start a new life here in NFLD. Totally in love with the place and it's people. Both full of wide eyed optimism and it rubbed off on me. 👍👊👍

Holy Cow! My wife brought the boys to the skate park to use their scooters. They made friends with a few boys around their age (9 - 12). A while later the new friends broke out a bong and started smoking weed. Wife bolted with children & I'm gobsmacked.
