Most of the time, former players that say this crap just use their experience or extra knowledge as a form of confirmation bias. "You didn't watch the tape or play the game," as said person is interpreting the tape to fit their predetermined narrative.

Notre Dame would be the 4th best team in the Big Ten, could even be the 5th best depending on how the season finishes out (the odds of one of Michigan or especially USC surpassing them I think is high). Lou Holtz is just wrong there.

The Joey Velazquez stuff is insane. You literally won the NCAA case, humiliated overly zealous rival fans, and got off essentially scot-free because there is no salary cap, and yet it isn't enough. Do we know for a fact Ohio State did anything illegal? The answer is no.

Agreed, and I am someone who loves the idea of an 8 - or 16-team CFP. However, if any CFP expansion will always lead to a slippery slope of wanting 20+ teams involved, I'm out.
I would sincerely prefer we return to the BCS over expanding the playoff to eg 24 teams.
