Courtyard housing made from timber, proposed in Høn, Norway One reason such density can be built in this location is Høn has a rail line (trains are 30 minutes to Oslo Central). Designed by Oslotre and Lala Toyen

Boston: with the right zoning reforms, we too could have pedestrian-centered housing for $225ish per square foot.

Imagine Boston with Austin building regulations. We’d be growing by tens of thousands of people every year

Adam Smith’s been on my mind lately. I think he wouldn’t be terribly surprised that we’re still debating the same issues he highlighted and 90% of An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations is still just as relevant today as in 1776.

An Austrian adaptation of the Barcelona Superblock, Vienna is finishing up its first Supergrätzl ("Super neighbourhood") in the 10th district, where through traffic is filtered out to regenerate an intersection into a liveable, climate-adapted, pedestrian-friendly public space.🧵

New Hampshire has legalized something we haven't had in over a century: free-market electricity. If you don't connect to the grid, under a new law the PUC has no regulatory authority.

Just in case you needed a reminder of all the LIFE we can fit into cities when we rethink streets for cars. Space for green and nature DOESN’T compete with density of people or buildings. It competes with density of CARS. Image via @LondonNPC https://t.co/fYHG4gWN8E

HUGE HOUSING NEWS: The Assembly just passed our bill allowing more homes near public transportation, SB 79! We need more housing & we need it near transit. It’ll reduce traffic congestion & carbon emissions & increase transit ridership & affordability. Go housing! Go transit!
