Pete Alonso was a great fit for the Red Sox on paper over someone like Schwarber: 1B, RH power bat. No one else on the market could give them that. Very curious how they pivot. Bregman’s camp has to be thrilled now seeing Schwarber and Alonso get $150M.

Interesting comments from Devin Williams saying he found off the field things more difficult playing in New York than on the field. Thought this is relevant with so much talk about how the Blue Jays are accommodating to players/family. So many little things add up.

"Two sources continued to insist on Tuesday that Preller is working on a series of deals that would qualify as blockbusters." "Those sources ... were among three people who reiterated the Padres will not trade Fernando Tatis Jr. this offseason."

I’m hearing the Red Sox are not in on Bo Bichette unless his market changes.

Seager is entering his age-32 season and is still owed $189M over 6 years. Remains an elite hitter and defender but hasn't played more than 123 games in the last 3 seasons. High ceiling but pretty significant gamble.
Source: The Red Sox have discussed with teams trades for at least four different All-Stars — Ketel Marte, Corey Seager, Isaac Paredes, Brendan Donovan. Jumbo-sized winter meetings notebook with @alexspeier:

I believe the next 72 hours are going to make a lot of Red Sox fans smile. Wa, way too much chatter and info from people I respect.

Cease on working with the Blue Jays coaching staff "I really do feel like they're going to help me maximize my abilities."
Cease said he spoke to Gausman about the Jays and Toronto: "As I asked around, no one had any negatives to say about it. The consensus has been, you're going to love the city, you're going to love the organization. It's as simple as that. There wasn't a negative."
