Doing some digging on the comings and goings of prospects in the system over the last year, and came across this. Got a laugh.

I think I'll officially just reserve judgment on this deal until next season, when both pitchers are further removed from TJ. That said, we'll see what the beat writers can get from their sources, but early reaction seems to think Toboni swindled the Sox here.

LHP 6'6 240 ... plus extension ... 92-93, top 96 ... lower arm slot ... devastating change vs RHH ... breaking balls only 20% of the time ... excellent control ... seen as a sure-fire 3/4 starter ... Nats #6 prospect.

The start of tonight's Sox Prospects podcast hits on a lot of stuff I've been thinking about recently. The way the team is constructed. The current balance of prospects. The clear need to simply pay for offensive talent to fill needs to slow unsustainable farm depletion.

I like King. I don’t think he’s a clear 1B to Crochet, and at that point the value added on such a deep staff is there, but not huge. Atrocious injury history, and since he declined a QO we’d be giving up top draft picks and international money. Invest in the real team needs.

I kind of pooh-poohed him at the start of the offseason, but in every breakdown on free agent hitters I've come up with in the last 2 months, his 2025 metrics were really freaking good.
