Red Sox beat writer for @BostonGlobe. BU alum. I’m not yelling, that’s just how I talk.

Folks (part 2): I’m joining The Boston Globe as the Red Sox beat writer, beginning in early June. It’s a special job in a special city, so I’m pumped to be back in New England!
Folks: This is my last week-plus covering the Mets and with Newsday. It’s been a hell of an eventful seven-plus years — more like 23 in Mets years? — around a team that always keeps it interesting. And I’m going to miss it and you all quite a bit!

Sonny Gray said he is looking forward to the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry. "It feels good to me to go to a place where it’s easy to hate the Yankees," he said.

At age 7, Shane Knowlton Simard and his sister entered foster care and faced an uncertain future. They got a new beginning from a Lynn couple who have fostered 20 kids. A decade later, he's Lynn English's star QB and league MVP. My feature @GlobeSchools:

Craig Breslow on whether Sonny Gray is the big-name rotation addition he talked about two weeks ago: "We're not going to close off any chance to make the team better." Asked directly if Gray is the Red Sox' No. 2 starter, he declined to say, citing it being November.

Good read from @ByEmmaHealy with some Sonny Gray history I did not know:

The Red Sox traded for Gray, a 36-year-old righthanded pitcher, on Tuesday.

The Red Sox made the trade official: They got Sonny Gray and cash from the Cardinals, in exchange for Richard Fitts, Brandon Clarke, and a player to be named later or cash considerations. The inclusion of a PTBNL or cash to the Cardinals is one more small wrinkle.
