This is quite something from StatsCan. The federal bureau of statistics is confirming that Sask’s removal of the carbon tax from home heating helped reduce our inflation rate well below the national average. But the carbon tax isn’t inflationary right?

As a citizen, I find it particularly galling that the your former colleagues just ‘paused’ your “revenue neutral’ carbon tax on home heating oil in the name of affordability when you and they said it was not contributory to the high costs faced by Cdn families.
As a competition lawyer I find it particularly galling that politicians blame a revenue neutral carbon price for high costs rather than actually addressing the fact that we have monopolies or near monopolies in so many key sectors from grocery to banking to telecoms to airlines.

This is just bizarre. They will ‘stabilize costs’ - they ‘have Cdns backs’ but they will continue to increase the inflationary carbon tax to $170 per tonne (currently at $65).
We know Canadians have been hit hard by rising food prices.
