As @BikeWalkRVA points out, the new proposed 3 designs offer no protected barriers for bike-pedestrians. Yet, this VDOT graph from their just released survey results show that having increased bike-ped safety is a high priority.

We have been seeing a concerning number of pedestrian crashes and deaths in the Virginia news lately. EVERY road user has the right to travel safely. PLEASE drive focused, slow down, and SHARE THE ROAD! Lives depend on it. Families depend on it.

Yes, it’s a tragedy. Sadly, it’s completely “imaginable” and even predictable when we choose to legally coddle drunk driving while making ourselves dependent on the excessive use of increasingly large and deadly vehicles on dangerously designed roads with excessive speed limits.

This is such a great step forward for Richmond! The Fall Line trail will be an important part of our transit-oriented development future by providing car-less connectivity to parks, restaurants, and jobs. I can't wait to see it come to life!

Gabriel's Rebellion's gathering site is in sight of the future Fall Line in Henrico Couny's Fairfield District. We have already begun work to commemorate this kind of significant history along the trail in our Fall Line Vision Plan, found here:

Todays the 224 anniversary of Gabriels Rebellion. One of the communities that inspired that action is Pocahontas Island along the Appomattox in Petersburg. Check out this doc about those centuries of resistance. "The Enduring Saga of Pocahontas Island" https://t.co/2YMYHXFZLM

“The city of Richmond broke ground on its first section of the Fall Line Trail, the 43-mile multi-use, car-free path. Virginia’s capital city now joins Henrico and Hanover Counties, which have already started construction on the trail.” 🏃🏾♀️🚴🏼♂️ @IanCycles

So excited to participate in the groundbreaking of the Fall Line Trail in Bryan Park. This will be an amazing resource that will connect so many different communities and create a safe space for people to travel and play.

Biking my kids to school is legit the best part of my day. Songs, giggles and incredibly strange dance moves. If I drove, I would be staring at the car in front of me in the car line right now. #bikedc #betterbybike

If you could ask anything from a downtown redevelopment project, what would it be? For a lot of people, it’s a place to sit. This may be surprising to some, but public seating plays an important role in creating prosperous communities. Here are a few of the reasons why. 🧵

You're sick of it. We're sick of it. Let's work on it. Send us your pictures of cars parked in bike lanes so we can put them to good use. Email to rvabikemonth@sportsbackers.org, and the 12 selected photos will receive a special gift. *You agree to let us use for any purpose.

Mark your calendar! With the third groundbreaking in less than a year, Richmond joins Henrico, Hanover, and Ashland to have four neighboring localities working on one contiguous 13-mile segment of this game-changing trail. Hosted by Richmond Mayor @LevarStoney / @CityRichmondVA

This is why you're seeing some bike lanes getting redesigned in Richmond. Filling out surveys is critical to make these improvements possible! Vision Zero survey here:

This is why you hear drivers say their city builds bike lanes and riders aren't using them. All it takes is one clueless driver opening a car door to change your life. I'll pass, thanks.
