BTW if you pay attention to how people speak and write about "bicyclists" in Portland, this type of behavior should not surprise you at all. Just like when ppl purposely drive their cars into others, this is a result of normalization of anger/hate toward bicycle riders.

This is NE 33rd, a key entrance to the major regional NE Marine Drive bike/walk path. Look at all this space for driving! That center turn lane is a waste (there are no businesses). If we widen the bike lane & add concrete protection, a lot more ppl would bike here.

Crews have left for the day, but protestors have assigned volunteers to watch the site in shifts in case they return. PBOT Commissioner @commmaps office tells us the removal is called off, "but we do need to have further conversation about this particular stretch [of bike lane]"

The #StJohnsBridge will close for five nights on a 10PM to 5AM schedule beginning Jan. 31 so our bridge crew can do inspections and maintenance work. The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists. Closure details: #pdxtraffic 🚧

This says so much. One of the things we need to understand in #Portland is that people who use cars DO NOT need so many redundant streets to criss-cross our downtown/central city. Let's ID a few of these redundancies and make them school/shopping/walking streets.

The victim of today’s collision was Sarah Pliner, an accomplished and well-known Portland chef who owned Aviary, an award-winning restaurant on NE Alberta that closed in April 2020. “She was so talented… a one-of-a-kind person,” shared a friend.

This is the condition of the I-205 multi-use path where it passes under NE Sandy Blvd (one of several sections like this). The path is a crucial piece of our regional bike network that many ppl say they avoid for fear of their safety. cc @ChloeEudalyPDX @tedwheeler @OregonDOT

... We just passed, by council ordinance, permission for @PBOTinfo to use around 1,000 (!!) curbside parking/loading zone spaces in the central city for protected bike lanes, safer crossings, & better transit. And this isn't "just a plan". We have $35 MILLION to spend. Let's go!

In South Korea 🇰🇷, the solar panels in the middle of the highway have a bicycle path underneath - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and the country can produce clean energy.
