I ringed the first Redwing of the Autumn today. There are good numbers being ringed north of us, so it is nice to have a few reach us. They really are a beautiful thrush.

It's actually a love call 🐦😍 The 'cuckoo' call is iconic, but did you know only the male makes this sound? 👉Watch the story as I search for a nest to film: https://t.co/yI3VGE2bI8

A day around Easington and Spurn started off with good views of the Juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper. Hundreds of Pink- Footed Geese overhead, with a Yellow-browed Warbler two Brambling and lots of Tree Sparrows made a good day. @spurnbirdobs

Wildcat kittens were thought to typically disperse from their mother around six months old 🐾 Since the first wild births to released females in 2024, the team have been monitoring the litters. It's been fascinating to record them dispersing from as early as four months old 🗓️

As autumn bird migration rolls into mid October it is the ‘time of the season’ for the ‘Winter Thrushes’ to be arriving on the Northumberland coast to make the most of the ‘berry bounty’ like this Redwing. One of the most exciting ornithological happenings.

I have posted this photo of the Turkestan Shrike we had for eight days at Dunwich heath, only to show how you can get the best out of a poor light day. This was taken when it was cloudy right at the end of the day the light goes flat and this enables you to get a better expossure
