Two minutes of aerial footage from what was an incredible all-day encounter with the 27s #Orca pod here in #Shetland last week. Wonderful to watch, film and photograph. @Seasaver @TheOrcaProject @Britnatureguide @kasmunro @whalesorg @PromoteShetland @kazcustard @BDMLROrcaAware

This first winter Red-breasted Flycatcher graced our Shetland garden early this morning. It's the second we've had in the garden so far this autumn!

Often heard, seldom seen Unfortunately, this lovely little Goldcrest, UK’s smallest bird, crashed into my conservatory window this morning Stunned but alive, I popped him in 1 of my hedgehog snuggle sacks, left him to come to, an hour later he whizzed off! What a stunner!❤️

Storm Petrel vs Storm Amy... Many European Storm Petrels - known as 'Alamooties' here in Shetland - were blown inshore off the back of #StormAmy. This one was battling against the wind in Scalloway Harbour yesterday morning.

From northern Fennoscandia (and Russia) with love. Nice to see my first migrant Jack Snipe of the Autumn here in Shetland. In typical habitat and in a typical pose. Amazing birds.

Watching the Siberian Thrush at Asta, Tingwall, Shetland this afternoon. If we all had fishing rods in our hands whilst standing in that loch, folk would think we were completely normal. Funny old world…😉

Our teams faced days of intimidation attempts from the gang after the live streams, but we did not back down. This dedication has saved the lives of several thousand birds this weekend. We won't stop until these criminal trapping operations are permanently shut down! #Cyprus

A great afternoon with Juliet the @nottspolice Rural & Wildlife Crime Partnerships manager. Really great investment from Notts Police into giving staff a greater understanding of what may be a wildlife crime. #makewildlifecount #policing
Yesterday, Jim was delivering some Wildlife Crime training to Nottinghamshire Police's control room staff. The training will give the staff a greater understanding of what may be a wildlife crime and also the importance of recording these allegations accurately and correctly.

Lovely flight views again of the North American Blue-winged Teal with Eurasian Teal at Loch of Hillwell today. Still a very rare bird in these parts with around ten Shetland records. A nice addition to the house list...

This is Akas, one of Europe’s most prolific illegal hunters– killing up to 500 birds a day during peak autumn season . Over the past 3 days we have been peacefully monitoring his compound with @CABS_REPORTS to catch him in the act– his violence has escalated day by day ,

Sickening to see a clump of monofilament line trapped around and damaging the dorsal fin of this Risso's Dolphin off Trondra, Shetland today. Monofilament is a silent killer of wildlife and can remain in the environment for hundreds of years. Whoever discarded this clearly just
