I honestly think Tanzania's mediocrity as a nation is the worst case of wasted potential in all of Africa and actually emblematic of its NGMI sentiment. Having non of the obstacles that other African nations have (terrible geography, ethnic divisions, etc) and with may more

A common theme in Banana republics propaganda is always about tall buildings, some infrastructure project, scenery, animals, etc. It's never about real people in their day to day lives. Even the art is almost always depicting animals. Compare that to Communist states foreample.

There's a contradiction within the US economy that neither side of the political spectrum can comprehend. The coastal elite, living in the financial capitals of the world do not exactly understand MAGA incentives, born in the old industrial middle America.

In Tanzania, President Samia Suluhu Hassan is walking the same tightrope that Emmerson Mnangagwa perfected in Zimbabwe, turning elections into rituals of legitimacy rather than instruments of accountability. The 2025 polls are already marred by fear, disappearances, and media

China solved the scarcity problem but somehow it's developed nations that are majorly concerned. Which is rather ironic because it's Developing nations that should be as Chinese competition is decapitating their industrial dreams still in their infancy.

"What’s needed is not merely a correction, but an institutional reckoning." I agree. The overcapacity problem is not the result of an accident, or an oversight, and cannot be fixed through a shift in emphasis. It is baked into the political, financial and economic institutions

A new trend I've observed in Tz (though it might not materialize) is Christian churches increasingly taking the role of the major opposition to the government, its still its infancy and might be a response to this year's sham election.

A common pattern in Muslim states worldwide: strict suppression of all political speech turned Mosques into a refuge of activism & dissent. Indonesia's secular military government reflected in the secret police chief being a devout Catholic with a deep aversion to Islamism.

Most of Tech guys shifted course and openly aligned with Trump during the last election. Could be the result of their lobbying. He also cant "abandon" San Francisco a major driver of the US economy.

I think the key to many the psychology of many (though not all) Israelis is a firm belief that the world has always secretly hated them anyway. The "New Historians" don't penetrate the curriculum as the notion that Israel only won statehood on Western sufferance is too important.

A PROTEST VOTE is the most rational approach to this election and the most devastating way to respond to CCM lunacy. Casting millions of invalid votes (writing names on the votes, etc) will be a disaster the likes of which CCM cannot walk around easily. #noreformsnoelection

Keep aside the usual dark forces responsible for the horrible state of the American economy right now, one thing I rarely hear about is ever expanding rent seeking even into sectors of the economy where its absurd. John Deere asking farmers to pay subscription fees to operate
