“Governments are instituted […], deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”
But when a party
1) Makes registering to vote harder
2) Makes the act of voting harder
3) Gives themselves power to overturn elections
They are not exercising just powers, just power.
In more than a decade on the job, Rep. Jim Jordan has no legislative accomplishments. Zero. Zip. Nada.
He does however have a ample record of division, and sedition.

John Mellencamp was a co-founder of Farm Aid - preventing thousands of foreclosures of family farms. He's done a ton more for farmers and other Americans than anything the GOP has ever done. But he hurt the feelings of Trump supporters, so they're big mad.

Where unsupported assertions are treated as "just an alternative opinion"
a) advertisers know it degrades reader receptiveness, including to their own messages
b) advertisers know that they may end up on the receiving end of unsupported assertions

@jaketapper
America dodged a bullet by electing Biden. That much is crystal clear.
It is also crystal clear that the GOP is taking aim at democracy itself, and so the danger continues.

Red states are creating conditions for the next Great Migration.
Red state legislators are making it harder for firms to recruit into more repressive states. when job candidates have a choice, more will choose the free states.

When SCOTUS ruled on Citizens United, they opened the door, not only to dark money, but foreign money.
Any US corporation, whether run by a foreigner or substantially controlled by foreign owners, can donate without limit.
The Citizens United ruling was just horrible
Promoting a pedophile,
Stonewalling on sexual assault,
Odd incuriousness about an attack from Russia,
Attacking nearly the entire civil service professionals
Robbing the middle class
Denying children healthcare

Mike Lee doesn't want Black people to vote, period.
Long voting lines aren't in the suburbs.
Shortened voting hours do not impact office workers.
The reduction in voting options do not impact those with cars and free time.

This is so unbelievably fucked up. There’s no way Trump deserves this level of security. This is obviously artificially inflated by someone trying to help him.
@BBCNewsnight
Ah, the insurrection is the media's fault.
Megyn's career tanked when she posed a relatively straightforward question to Trump - should have been a layup for him. Since then she'd tried *desperately* to get that audience back.
She's not worth the BBC's, or anyone's, attention.

Trump ignored Obama's pandemic playbook.
Trump fired the pandemic forward team.
Trump fired the pandemic response team.
Trump sold America's pandemic supplies to China.
Trump failed to coordinate globally.
Trump ignored and attacked the WHO.

Important to remember:
1) This is the softballest of softball interviews.
2) The editing is done for clarity and political effect.
3) The questions were re-framed and reshot to enhance message.
Even with all of those advantages, Trump comes off as looney
@AnaCabrera
Putting Marjorie Greene her on any committee is absurd. Putting her on a committee dealing with education and labor is just an insult to the institution of the House.
Does Kevin McCarthy, do the GOP, have *any* principles not related to batshittery?
The US would not have $33 Trillion in debt if not for the 2017 tax cuts to corporations and teh wealthy.
Not only did it not pay for itself, but the promised increases in GDP growth and Investment growth did not materialize in any way shape or form.
The most oversold cut ever.

This has been the wet dream of Kremlin propagandists for 60 years. US universities have provided the backbone of US dominance in *all* areas, and been a magnet for the best minds on the planet.

That it was flawed and that we work towards a "more perfect union" is not racist. For a self-declared Christian to deny imperfection in something created by man is a curious thing.

NO ONE takes up the banner for workers required to clock in early (for free), pay for their own supplies, or work under hazards without either protection or compensation, but the GOP politicizes a virus and suddenly every GOPer is complaining that the workplace is unfair & scary

I paid off my student loans decades ago. But that was before the GOP pushed through the FAFSA changes that make student debt far more onerous.
My $20K debt stayed at $20K while I was a student. Now the debt balloons for students.
I don't begrudge those seeking relief now.

You have a staff of nearly 5 dozen people. If you can't handle two problems simultaneously with that many on staff, then you don't belong in the senate; probably can't manage a McDonalds either.
It's not simply that Trump wants the Wisconsin GOP to nullify elector votes, it's that nationally, the GOP has candidates running who would nullify voting, period, full stop.
The GOP has become a fully authoritarian-embracing party.

The Black Democratic voters who were told by the state that they were once again eligible to vote are being charged with felonies.

It is a great disservice to the nation that you see the impeachment as a partisan act.
Either incitement of insurrection is impeachable or not, regardless of party. If not, God help us.

This is the unity that the GOP was preaching on Wednesday.
Even after this, you voted against accepting the results of a free and fair election.

Free people aren't afraid of the warts of history; they know that representative democracy is always a work in progress.
Denying the full teaching of history denies teaching about how / why freedoms evolve.
Failure to teach how / why freedoms evolved does not promote freedom.

The problem for Republicans is that once trump is out of office, there are likely to be many revelations of criminal behavior - from contracting to looting to more "Ukraine-type" calls for personal gain, to who knows what.
