As I close this chapter in the U.S. Senate, I wish every Utahn the very best in their years ahead. I’m confident that the future is bright, and that our state will continue to grow and thrive. It’s been a profound honor to serve you—thank you for giving me the opportunity.

This is great news! Strengthening U.S. manufacturing capabilities will help break our dependence on China for microchips. Today’s announcement of funding for @TXInstruments semiconductor fab in Lehi means Utah will continue to play a vital role in bolstering national security.

We've turned our framework to mitigate extreme AI risks—such as nuclear and cyber threats—into bipartisan legislation. This should be the starting point for discussion on actions Washington should take on AI-enabled risks that don’t stifle U.S. innovation.

While AI could dramatically improve our lives, it also poses enormous national security risks. Our bipartisan legislation would preserve America’s competitive edge while safeguarding our advanced technology from those looking to cause widespread harm.

This year’s NDAA contains several measures which will support Utah's role in our national defense, including strengthening the Sentinel program at @HAFB and addressing our military recruitment crisis—a top priority of the @UTNationalGuard.

In this year’s defense bill, I secured provisions to modernize our nuclear triad, shore up U.S. military supply chains, and strengthen Indo-Pacific partnerships. The NDAA also recognizes the service and sacrifice of our servicemembers by providing them a substantial pay raise.

As foreign adversaries continue to threaten our national security, it’s critical that our military has the resources it needs to keep our nation safe. Over the last 6 years, I’m proud to have fought for investments that preserve freedom and the Union.

Around the world, authoritarianism is on the rise and freedom is in retreat. America's involvement in global affairs helps promote stability and support freedom, which is in our own interest. By maintaining strategic relationships and championing freedom, we put America first.

America is blessed because it is good. We’ve welcomed the poor and hungry and championed freedom for people here and around the world. It’s incumbent on all of us to maintain this tradition of goodness. If we do, America’s future will continue to be bright.

Looking forward, it’s incumbent upon Washington to find consensus on the issues that, while not necessarily front and center in people’s minds, would cause calamity down the road without action—like the national debt, China’s emergence as the global power, AI, and climate.

The American people expect us to work together to address our country's most pressing challenges. While in the Senate, I was fortunate to work with a bipartisan group of senators in crafting and passing major pieces of legislation that made a difference for Utah and the nation.

I'm pleased to see our legislation, which makes it easier for well-intentioned organizations to clean up and improve water quality at abandoned mines, pass both the House and Senate! It now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.
