#OriginalResearch “You said it! Now look what’s happened!” We’ve all been blamed for saying it. The shift was calm — then someone muttered the “Q word,” and chaos reigned. But is it actually true? Does saying “quiet” doom us to a flood of patients? 🧠 A new narrative

This project was a team effort more than most, and any attempt to name everyone involved would inevitably miss someone! Original idea and driving force @gdj043, and @DerbyRandD deserve special mention!

Hugely pleased to see SARC published. This project started my interest in research, and it’s taken ~10y to get from idea to paper. Take away - salbutamol does not add clinically significant benefit to standard analgesia for emergency dept pts with renal colic. Link below

📢 Royal Derby Hospital is on a roll, @UHDBTrust! They recruited 5 patients in February—their highest monthly total since January 2024! 👏 A big thank you to the team for their efforts in the #CRASH4trial. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🚑💙 #TXA

@drjgutt @dopaminedocdave @oli_m_sims I think that maybe you are missing everyone else's point. This would have potentially been a better time for discussion on prognostication and ethical considerations. This article has some interesting statistics.

Data shows we’re in a mess going into winter. COVID confirmed need to be in good shape to deal with other predictable events. Yet here we are again: no plan, not on the priority list, and worried. Need heads out of sand fast. @RCollEM

Fears of a potential "quad-demic" are rising, with a 350% increase in flu cases and an 86% rise in norovirus cases in hospitals compared to the same week last year, the NHS England has said.

I can…see the thinking behind this campaign I would ask for reflection on it and its potential harms #medtwitter #orthotwitter

Calling #MedTwitter what’s the current choice for audience opinion/vote collecting live during a talk? Needs to be simple, accessible via a qr code on a slide, and report results immediately after the vote. Bonus points if no need to come out of PP to access results

The SHED study - the test characteristics of CT brain for subarachnoid haemorrhage in patients presenting to UK EDs with acute severe headache is due to be published within DAYS...! Clear the decks... @ternfellow may change how you think about acute headache and SAH.

On the ways we are forced to deliver care in the emergency department - “Morally, it’s just painful.” Yes, it is. For us. For patients. For their families. ED crowding is not an ED problem - it is a symptom of the entire system in crisis. https://t.co/v4HrWMzYgm

Today my HVAC guy taught me how to be a better physician. As you know, it’s stinking hot in Edmonton right now, and though the heat doesn’t bother me much, we are a family of Vikings and it’s my job to help my ginger spawn survive. Cue the ominous silence from our AC unit.

And THIS is why there’s a diving bell in the car park of perhaps the most land-locked hospital in the country… @UHDBTrust @DerbyRandD
Ever wondered how you'd do CPR in probably the world's most challenging environment? How do you deliver CPR if the casualty is sat up, and you can't lie them down? Then read on… 🧵
