Busy week at work. With BALPA General Secretary @Amy_Leversidge for a meeting at 10 Downing Street; in Parliament for really productive meetings, including with @Tim_Roca MP (pictured), discussing pilot fatigue & fair funding of pilot training; and learning lots at #Airlines2025.

On funding, we want a system that means that anyone with the ambition and potential to become a pilot has a fair chance to do so. BALPA is currently mapping what’s needed to deliver a fair funding system and what the potential options are ready to discuss with decision makers.

Was great to visit Number Ten yesterday to speak to the Prime Minister’s Special Advisor about the work British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) is doing to improve aviation safety through action to combat pilot fatigue and the need to fix how pilot training is funded.

We heard from inspiring speakers, including Laura Harrison, about our culture; Lord Brendan Barber, our new Honorary President; Rob Faricy from RNLI about safety and Stuart Brittenden, KC, about BALPA’s legal wins. We had an engaging two days of thought provoking debate.

Last week we bought pilots together for the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA)’s Annual Delegate Conference. I was pleased in my speech to announce the improvements we have made to BALPA including the independent culture commission and our next steps for the work.

Solid, productive time at #Lab25 with BALPA General Secretary @Amy_Leversidge, speaking with MPs & other key stakeholders about breaking down the barriers to becoming a pilot. Right now, for most, it means £100k+ of upfront bills. Pilot apprenticeships are a way to fix this.

I met the British Airline Pilots Association to discuss more opportunities in the industry for women and people from working class and more diverse backgrounds. I want to see kids in my community not just growing up watching planes at City Airport but ultimately flying them.
