Last week I caught up with the Deputy Prime Minister to discuss issues important to West Ham & Beckton including housing, transport and support for local services.

I asked again about medical facilities in Gaza that have suffered repeated damage. It is vital that the few functioning hospitals stay open. Their loss would be an indictment of the disregard for the health and lives of the Palestinian people.

Today we remember the 52 who lost their lives & all those injured in the 7/7 attacks 20 years ago. We salute the courage of the emergency services, Underground staff & of fellow passengers who came to the aid of the injured. And we honour the resilience of Londoners & our city.

It’s #NationalRetailWorkersDay. Retail is hugely important to the economy supporting 5.7 million jobs. For many it’s often a first step into the world of work. My first job was on the shop floor at W H Smith. Thank you to all our shop workers across West Ham & Beckton.

Access to theatre and performance has so many benefits including to confidence and skill building. I saw this recently on a visit to Keir Hardie Primary in Canning Town where the positive impact on the students was clear.

I met with @BreastCancerNow to learn more about barriers to secondary breast cancer treatments. I’ve also joined the All Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer, so will continue to work with colleagues on issues such as access to treatment.

Today the Government announced its 10-year plan for the NHS. I welcome the shift from hospital to community based care so that my constituents can get a local appointment when they need one.

Last week, it was Rebecca Cheetham Nursery Fun Day. I met some of the wonderful people supporting the nursery and the community. I also Mango, Carlos, Jeff and some chickens (too shy to give their names!)

Last week, I visited Barney Bears Nursery in West Ham. Thank you for the tour and for meeting with me. And an extra thank you to the children who sang!

Not quite Glastonbury🎪and some work to do to get my place in the rhythm section! 🎶. Getting stuck in with the bongos (and a patient tutor!) at a summer fete in Plaistow.🪘. By the end of the summer season I may even be able to keep time!
