Last weekend, I hosted a residents’ coffee morning at Benchill Community Centre in Wythenshawe. There was some really constructive discussions about how best to invest the £20 million Pride in Place funding we’ve worked so hard to secure. Huge thanks to everyone who came along.

Today, the Catholic Church celebrates the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, a moment to reflect on the struggles and hopes of those forced to leave their homes and to pray for their safety. Behind every migrant and refugee is a human being with a story we may never know.

As we celebrate his feast day, his message still feels timeless - care for one another, care for the world around you. St Francis saw everything as connected: people, animals, the planet. That’s what politics should be about too: fairness, compassion & not leaving anyone behind.
