Your universal screener does not guide how you will sort students. It helps you design the focus of tier 1 instruction - the system of instruction ALL students will receive. Provide what students need during universal instruction. It starts there. @sstollar6 #SOR

HOW WE STUDY WORDS: I use a framework I call The 4-Step Process. It helps students focus on various forms of the words they're studying close together. The family of words generated depends on the focus of the lesson at any given time.

@MaryBethSteve18 @NateJoseph19 @lifelonglit @measuredmom I do not attempt to teach spelling and grammar at the same exact moment. They’re related so there is some overlap obviously. But as with linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics are interrelated yet still distinct enough to be separate studies.

The ability to prevent reading failure is one of the fundamental research findings. Help me bring more attention to the essential connection between #ScienceOfReading and #MTSS

🤯 This is why Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) isn't working in YOUR school! 🤯 MTSS was designed to be a systemic model to merge general ed and special ed, aimed to PREVENT reading failure. 💭 Instead, we are doing a lot of INTERVENTION rather than PREVENTION. 🤔

Happiness is writing a happy ending. I start the day with two emotions: First… Proud of all the people who worked to ensure quality-options-only for Wisconsin kids. @SenMarklein @repborn @SenStroebel @DDWI13 @ReadingLeagueWI @JennyWarnertr @AmyMcGovern1 @bradyreinke

Hi all, this is Ady’s wife, Rachael. I’m devastated to share the news that Ady has died from complications of ALS. You probably knew Ady as a healthcare activist. But more importantly he was a wonderful dad and my life partner for 18 years. [1/4]

Anita Archer brilliantly underscores that reading routines are not boring…they are essential. Children learn to know what they are doing through disciplined, high yield routines. #SoR #dyslexia@NeuhausEdCtr@MontanaEducation&LiteracyInstitute

What would it take to increase substantially the percentage of Wisconsin kids who read well? This question has been on my mind and I'm working on some stories about this. But first, a spot story on rising interest in legislative action on the subject.

Bipartisan cooperation could "really make a difference" in helping schools be more effective in how they teach reading, said one legislator.
