This was my third budget as JFC Co-Chair and will be the third budget signed by the Governor during that time. I am very proud to have worked on a budget that provides broad tax relief and invests in ways that make Wisconsin a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

ICYMI: On Thursday JFC made a HISTORIC investment in special ed . We increased the special ed reimbursement rate from 32.4% to 37.5% (the highest rate since 1996-97) by 2026-27. We also increased the high-cost special ed reimbursement rate from 24.2% to 90% by 2026-27.

I’m very disappointed to see this decision from the Governor. This bill would’ve returned Wisconsin to the same national standards Governor Evers aligned us with when he was superintendent. Lowering the bar does nothing to help student achievement.

Wisconsin can afford a tax cut. We have nearly $4 billion sitting in surplus after meeting our obligations in the state budget. The Governor told us that $150k per year is middle class. Our middle-class tax cut answers the Governor’s call, we are cutting taxes for everyone.
