Part of being an ally is thinking critically about white privilege & how it manifests in public narratives. When white teens do dumb stuff, ppl don’t jump to the conclusion that it’s part of a pattern that could be prevented by jail. And nobody says they deserve to get shot.

No but really, can someone explain to me how making K street a 7 lane highway will “restore downtown”? The current design is the opposite of what a vibrant, livable, walkable downtown should look like. Who wants to hang out next to a highway? Not me.

This is an @erinfordc appreciation tweet. Erin puts her heart and soul into serving her community, and is one of the hardest working people I know. Much appreciation and admiration for all that you do.

Heard last night from Community Connections that more unhoused residents arrived in the Eastern Market/Garfield Park areas after the NOMA encampment closure. This is a predictable consequence of forcefully evicting people from other encampments before they can receive housing. 1/

There’s a beautiful new blessings box on the 1500 block of D Street SE near the corner with 16th. Thanks to the neighbors who built, installed and stocked it!

The director of DC’s public defender service is a Black woman, born & raised in DC, who has spent her entire career in public service representing clients here in the District. If we’re truly looking for solutions, why wasn’t she at the table at today’s public safety forum?

@ItsDanaWhite 1. Job interviews are a two-way street - ask questions during your interview & seek out information about the workplace & culture. 2. Always negotiate salary. Ask for raises. Other people do this without shame, even when they don’t deserve them. Worst they can say is no.

Metro isn't yet recommending which project it should build, but these two meet the goals of increasing train throughput under Potomac, ⬆️ ridership, reliability, equity, and serving growing areas. - Blue Line loop - Express Silver Line through Arlington + extension to Greenbelt

Good morning to everyone except a certain Councilmember who flies her statehood flag high until it’s time to find some feds to clear an encampment for her while she’s on vacation.

Anyone calling on a DC govt official to influence the way cases are prosecuted in DC doesn’t understand our local court system. Federal prosecutors handle adult cases in DC. The Council has no oversight over them. The functioning of our criminal legal system is a statehood issue.

Nobody wants an ANC app. The fact that OANC wants to spend all of the money earmarked for technology for ANCs on an app that will create more work for us is completely unacceptable. We need websites. We need translation services, closed captioned meetings & centralized printing.

With the new DNA collection provision in Pinto’s Secure DC, there’s nothing to stop MPD from arresting someone as pretext to collect their DNA even if they don’t have strong enough evidence to formally charge and prosecute them.

Surely I’m not seeing a sign that says “blocking a pedestrian passageway is a public safety hazard” next to the concrete barriers erected by the DC government blocking a pedestrian passageway.
