BC Builds can be coupled with a strategy to build a pipeline for offsite construction projects to solve the TOP constraint: labour force. Offsite construction can reduce workforce requirements 50%, schedules 30% & cost 20%. Without offsite🏗️, our crisis will worsen🙄

Our #housing stock is mismatched to our demography. 60% of households have 1 or 2 occupants even in single family. Need to diversify housing AND create attractive downsizing options for seniors comprising HUGE share of solos and couples in single family.

Boo👻I agree w @KahlonRav direction & zoning will NEVER dramatically change # of tricksters @ your door. When I was fuzzy dice 50 years ago, there >8.5M Canadians ≤19 (40% of Cdn pop). In 2021, there were ≤7M (just 20%!). Demography IS A reason to modernize – see🧵#BCPoli

Track record 4 #MetroVancouver & #TransLink is heterogeneous: good ToD around some rapid transit stations & other 30 yr old, $50 million stations surrounded by single family. Stations are single storey, missing housing & commercial & ridership, revenue & #affordability
It’s indisputable that #MetroVancouver is THE North American leader in transformative transit-oriented development. I used to mostly be asked to tour clients around Vancouver’s downtown. Now we’re just as likely to hop on Skytrain & explore over a dozen significant station areas.
