Deeply honoured to take on the role of Minister of Municipal Affairs. BC’s municipalities & regional districts are playing a critical role in

response and recovery and I’ll bring every ounce of passion and energy I have for local government to serve British Columbia.
Caught a glimpse of this through the trees, and had to take my coffee down to the shoreline to drink it in. The lands nestled in that ribbon of light are called haa’ukmin (aka the Kennedy Lake watershed), part of the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Park.

At the risk of over-doing it with the Tofino sunset photos, I just have to say that the sun itself really over-did it tonight... and just we really needed it.

Excited to announce that I'm seeking the
@bcndp
nomination to serve the people of Mid Island-Pacific Rim & work with
@jjhorgan
! Grateful for the opportunity to build on the strong foundation of learning I've received in Nuu-chah-nulth territories & 7+ years as mayor of
#Tofino
.
British Columbians know that when our neighbours need help, we show up - whether that's in our own communities, or across provincial borders. I'm proud we were able to support Alberta last night w/~200MW of power, during a time that was also a record demand of electricity in BC.
Extremely cold temperatures across
#BC
lead to new peak hourly electricity demand record Friday night - 11,300 MW. Despite record-breaking demand, we are able to meet the needs of our customers and help out our neighbours. Read more:
As we walked out on to the beach to watch the sun set, my friend said “I can feel it - this will be the best sunset this summer.” He may well be right.

Hey Alberta Renewables Industry -
Come invest in BC! We are launching competitive call for power in April (the first of many).
Looking for 100% clean wind & solar with First Nations participation.
Let's create jobs while electrifying BC's growing economy.
Well done,
#Tofino
! Calm, orderly and so helpful to neighbours, friends, visitors and pets! Thank you for taking care of each other.

This morning there’s a few more people at the beach than I’ve seen lately, I think they’re all drawing strength from this beauty. We want to share it with you virtually, world, until you can come again after we’re through this difficult time.

Drinking in this pink, soft light before the day begins. Close your eyes and imagine the sound of waves, the tang of salty air... take a deep breath and face the day together.

Overcoming our sloth-like tendencies on Boxing Day, we made it out for a rainy walk on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. This view never gets old!

All pandemic long, we are seeing nature respond. Well, here in
#Tofino
we are all tracking this beautiful animal as it traipses through the forest & our yards (this photo 5 min ago in my friend

There are a lot of great places to ride a bike on the West Coast, but a decades-long vision was to safely cycle from

I got out to Chesterman’s Beach before it closed for high tides and storm surges. Wow, just wow. The foam was almost like snow, and I swear the wind gusts could almost hold a person upright!

Sometimes you just want to get home, and every minute of driving seems to count. That’s exactly when you should stop, and just drink it all in. This is haa’ukmin - aka Kennedy Lake, the heart of the magnificent Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks.

NEW - an Indigenous-focused course will be required for graduation from BC's K-12 school system. Long awaited, much needed - this is an important step in building lasting and meaningful reconciliation in BC.
