The problem with Frieren's always-evil-no-exceptions demons is that humans are too evil to keep that concept restricted to just fictional creatures
Frieren sums up "suicidal empathy" in one minute. In this scene, the demon takes a form of a young child to manipulate the village. Frieren (the sorceress) has been alive for 1000s of years and knows the demons solely use words to trick people. Himmel, the human, is fooled.
