""Slavery was not genocide otherwise there wouldn't be so many damn blacks in Africa or Britain would there? An awful lot of them survived." Also, David Starkey. This racist dude has form, doesn't he?
"The whole Windrush story is a preposterous legend. Labour shortages in 1940s Britain? There were returning armies! The entire myth that Britain was built by immigrants begins with a demonstrable lie." @DrDStarkeyCBE on the Sceptic. Full episode👇

Someone does a viral thread about marketing - that's digital marketing.
A professor once explained ‘marketing’ like this: 1. You tell a girl, “I’m rich, marry me.”- That’s Direct Marketing. 2. Your friend tells her you’re rich- That’s Advertising. 3. She walks up to you and says, “You’re rich, marry me.”-That’s Brand Recognition. 4. You tell her

Trends in International Maths and Science 2023 showed there was a SIGNIFICANT decline in children's emotional engagement with school in England. Fewer than 50% of children were happy to go to school. Enjoy your export, guys 👍🏼
A scandal! Dangerous risk that students in Northern Ireland, Flanders and New Zealand may enjoy higher standards, better lessons and greater opportunities….

"I thought an education was grades... I had no idea it would make the world easier to navigate. I didn't realise it could change your entire viewpoint, that an education is more than just a job. You gain a qualification... but you also develop a way of thinking."

The Ed-Tech Grift: How a Silicon Valley “Founder” Turned Children’s Literacy Into a Culture War https://t.co/j3rWw5kjQR Ed-tech’s newest grift isn’t innovation. It’s outrage. When a founder mocks teachers instead of offering evidence, that’s not disruption — it’s grievance.

@AdrianBethune posted this at the start of the week and it was the third time I had seen it mentioned recently on X. It was also mentioned to Cass at Cradle to Career @reachfeltham @jon_hutchinson_ so this was timely! I downloaded it and devoured it in 3 sittings, something I

This is a false dichotomy. The issue isn't 'smarter vs. dumber.' It's 'evidence vs. vibes.' Tech evolves through peer review, testing, and data. Education should too. Where is the independent, peer-reviewed data showing your app improves reading comprehension?
In tech, you KNOW your competition is smarter than you and you're in constant danger of obsolescence In education, it seems difficult for people to imagine that anyone could be smarter than them or that the field might evolve It's interesting when those circles intersect

This is seismic. When the Telegraph - the house paper of Brexit - publishes a 2,000-word obituary admitting: 📉 Brexit has cut UK GDP by up to 8% 📉 Investment down 18% 📉 Productivity down 4% 📉 Employment down 4% 📉 No trade benefits 📉 No regulatory freedom 📉 No immigration
🚩😮 Peak F*CK ME Brexit moment When the Telegraph - THE BREXITGRAPH - publishes a full-blown obituary for Brexit, admitting: 📉 GDP down up to 8% 📉 Investment down 18% 📉 Productivity down 4% 📉 Employment down 4% ❌ No trade benefits ❌ No control of immigration ❌ No

@AdrianBethune @DeputyGrocott @British_Airways Oh I had this! Because I renewed when I got married and changed my name so had ten years plus a bit added. I thankfully realised and had a one day appointment to get a new one but I was so frustrated it wasn’t flagged during the online check in - would have saved a lot of money.

🚨PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 If you're travelling to EU, your passport must have been issued less than 10 years ago, or you'll be denied boarding. My wife checked in online with @British_Airways last Mon & was not allowed on the plane as her passport was 10yrs &12 days old.

@michaelgove In fact, your influence on Year 6 writing has been dire, because it now consists of writing to a formula of so-called grammatical features such as expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and embedded relative clauses. Content is now secondary or disregarded.

I create a daily to-do list to give me a focus & sense of achievement. Today wasn't too manic but fairly stressful. Everyday, I prioritise rest. This evening I've walked my dog, will chat with my wife & watch a comedy. What about you? https://t.co/fwPf1H4yfZ
