š§µ The ASN Attainment Gap in Scotland:. 1/ The ASN attainment gap exists in Scotland too. However, because we donāt measure reading and numeracy ages, we have no clear idea of its full extentāonly that it exists.

@lathan_miss @ASNReformScot @GiveTimeScot @UpstartScot @LynburnNurture @suzannezeedyk lots of talks about āadditional resourcesā and yes they are helpful. But even more urgently we need systems change and to challenge narratives which suggests a child with ASN is in some way a burden.

ASN education too often protects systems, not people. Parents, carers, support staff, teachersāand most importantly, CHILDRENāare being failed by a system meant to support them. Get it right for ASN children, and we get it right for everyone.
Teachers say they are at 'breaking point' and unable to cope with the number of pupils now classed as having additional support needs in classrooms.

Powerful thread from @givetimescot.bsky.social ā a must-read. Across every campaign and every voice ā parents, carers, teachers, PSAs ā the message is clear: The system isnāt protecting children. Itās protecting itself!.
Local authorities are meant to serve people, not just manage budgets. When councils knowingly disadvantage children, silence voices, and offload responsibility to families, thatās not providing a service. Thatās abandonment.

Thanks to @GlasgowPam .raising these vital issues in Parliament today. What did you make of the First Ministerās response to her question?. Hereās our take: The First Minister focused on working with local authorities ā not with parents and carers. Weāre still not part of the.
Children with additional support needs and their parents and carers are being failed. They have responded to consultations, engaged with reviews and met with ministers. In spite of all of this, nothing changes.

In Scotland, too many parents/carers of children with Additional Support Needs are exhaustedāfighting a system that should help. Legal action? Itās expensive, draining, and out of reach for so many of us. Why must we go to tribunal just to get our kids the support theyāre.
@ASNReformScot @scotgov I donāt know about your school but my sonās school doesnāt care. In face we have had to launch legal action against his school just to try and get him the support he needs and is entitled to. That the reality parents face every day.
