GL to all high school/prep coaches starting this week! IMO high school coaching is harder than college. Just got 🏈 guys back a week bf you start, delusional parent expectations (they have all the answers, just ask them) to win, have all your guys go D1, all for a $5,000 stipend.

HS Strength & Conditioning simply defined - you get out what you put in. Don’t show up - no improvement Show up and go through the motions - some improvement Show up and put in work consistently for years - you’ll unlock physical capabilities you never thought you’d have

Unpopular Opinions on Coaching: 1. Winning isn’t everything. 2. Parents impact team culture. 3. Sometimes tough love is needed. 4. Talent does not guarantee success. 5. Over-specialization can hurt athletes. 6. Coaching is way more than Xs and Os. What else?

I've had state championship coaches tell me their best coaching job was taking a team with very little talent and seeing them over-achieve to go 5-5 #txhsfb
Right now, there are many coaches working harder in a losing season than coaches with a winning record.

PSA to all coaches: Never try to make parents understand your job, because they never will. Parents will always want the best for their child, as they should. Our job is always to do what’s best for the TEAM. No matter how it may look or feel at times.

A great coach doesn't make you comfortable. They make you confront the gap between your current self and your potential self. Their job is to create the productive discomfort necessary for you to close that gap.

We’re training a generation to fear failure. Not because they’re soft or lazy, because everything they do is on display. Every test score, every game, every rejection lives forever online. When life becomes performative, failure feels like a public referendum on your worth.

S/O to all the HS coaches out there putting in serious work in your program To the ones running pre-season workouts, having staff meetings/retreats, building relationships with your players, fundraising money to help your program have extra tools or better gear for your players

"Winning is fun... Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you've done is the point." -- Pat Summitt

A message from a Kindergarten teacher: After forty years in the classroom, my career ended with one small sentence from a six-year-old: “My dad says people like you don’t matter anymore.” No sneer. No malice. Just quiet honesty — the kind that cuts deeper because it’s

💥 If you’re soft, you’re selfish. If you’re silent, you’re selfish. If you’re stupid, you’re selfish. Bad body language? Selfish. Repeating the same mistake? Selfish. Avoiding hard conversations? Selfish. High performance is about us, not you. So stop pouting, start

Dads, if you're trying harder to raising an athlete than you are a follower of Jesus ... you're doing it wrong.
