1/2 When you have no emergency service staff as they can’t get to work whilst their vehicles are empty & those who are in cannot respond to 999 calls as the emergency vehicles have run out of fuel, maybe just maybe you will listen to the govt & AA instead of the media.
Shocking comment

1. Detectives don’t wear uniform
2. Smart dress is exactly what she is wearing
3. Nothing worn here impacts on this persons ability to do their job.
4. How about showing respect for a highly qualified individual?
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith at press conference yesterday - skin tight navy dress, stilettos, poker straightened hair - whatever happened to a cop uniform! Or is she auditioning for Love Island for midlifers. Show some respect for a missing mother!
Spoken to a colleague retiring today with no senior officer to say thank you. If you can’t go or don’t know them well enough contact someone who does know them & can attend. After 30 years serving the public on the front line they deserve acknowledgement.
31 years ago. I joined the police after 2 years working as a Special Constable. 33 years doing a job I love. There have been very many changes over that time but the one thing that has never changed is my passion for looking after the public and my colleagues.
We received a call from
@ukhomeoffice
asking us to reopen the M56 as it was causing delays to the airport.
7 people were killed travelling to their holidays. 😢
Leave us to do our job. If it was your loved one you would want it done properly

I've asked Suffolk PCC Tim Passmore to investigate the closure of Orwell Bridge today and the protocol in place for such closures. While this is an operational decision by the police, it hugely impacts residents and businesses in our county, which I think merits inspection.
Dear members of the public. We have officers & govt agents under cover right now. Without them our country is in danger. Dont allow a few bad apples and a "soap" opera to damage all the great work they do. Its "the" hardest role imaginable. Double lives. Dangerous lives.
Let us remember the offender pleaded guilty. He chose to wear no helmet and chose not to stop for police officers. He could have chosen not to commit crime, not to ride a motorbike he was not qualified for and to stop when asked to by police.
It is simple. You were in the car with non household members and you broke the rules. It’s not acceptable to continue to do so. Do as you are told

It’s horrific to watch this. Bottles being thrown at cops amid shouts of police brutality. There is only one set of people demonstrating brutality here and it isn’t the police.
Colleagues/Friends; Those who indiscriminately assault police are Utter Utter ‘SCUMBAGS’ & cowards when outnumbering them! Here a bottle is thrown at a non shield officer if it was glass bottle & broke when hitting his head he could easily have bn blinded
It is 2023.
This young lady joined a disciplined service intending to go forward to the front line & look after us.
Her “leader” clearly isn’t disciplined and felt he could take what he wanted.
My heart is with her family as they live with this forever.💔
Really interesting piece of research from
@policescotland
regarding stressors for police officers. Look at the top one and those in the white! What you expected???
When you go to a police station and their antique collection is on display….. but it is the kit you used when you were a PC and you aren’t retired yet! 🤣

2/2 There is NO fuel shortage. But if you buy 4 times as much fuel in one day as normal there will be!
@BBCBreaking
@itvnews
& all media outlets, you have created this by your reporting yesterday, so today you are desperately trying to fix it. Stop sensationalising everything.
Why on Earth state there will be fines of £800 for anyone attending a house party of more than 15??? We don’t want house parties full stop. Not for any number of people from outside the home. This just encourages 14 people to think it’s ok?
They both look absolutely exhausted. I know how long our gold and silver commanders worked on this over the weekend in
@gmpolice
so I am sure they worked close to 24 hrs a day in Derbyshire. Well done to you all. Ignore the haters. Embrace the praise.
Feel free to come and tell our student officers studying for a degree, working shifts and earning just over 20k (less than nurses, paramedics and firefighters.) that they should work more hours or take another job… (which they aren’t allowed to btw) 🙄
I will not be sharing any details from the current murder trial.
#PCAndrewHarper
had a loving wife, a close family & friends and colleagues who are having to listen to every detail of this devastating evidence. My heart goes out to them all. 💞😢
I refuse to share the videos of stabbings in London in the last 24 hrs. All in open public spaces with families all around. Stopping the carrying of knives has to be the priority of ALL of us. Not just the police. Not just the govt. Every single one of us has a responsibility.
Jules I will never stop using the thin blue line picture. It is ours to remember those we have lost from our family. People can try turning it into whatever they want but we know what it is. We know why we use it & we know what it stands for. It belongs to the TBL police family

Wishing all my colleagues a speedy recovery this morning. Come on folks, can’t you just enjoy a Christmas night out without hurting my colleagues?
It’s not often I am speechless but this morning I am, so this is short. Reflections will follow.
Thank you to everyone involved, speeches, messages, presents, cards.

Interesting that the numbers of police is making a difference now. Thought it wasn't about numbers? Well now we know that to be incorrect, I have another suggestion. Let's cancel all MP''s summer leave. They can spend the time creating an effective 20 yr plan on
#knifecrime
These murders could have been avoided.
We must stand up for our communities by taking immediate action to ensure their safety is the top priority.
City Hall must cancel all police leave and implement a police surge to take back control of our streets.
Read a letter in my personal file today. A little boy thanking me for taking him on a ride in the police van 30 yrs ago. Bizarrely over 25 years later I worked with him on my team when I was a CI and neither of us knew!
Armed robbers sentenced to 141 years but we still felt it was ok to take two officers through 6 years of hell for injuring one of them whilst escaping. 😳
Two Metropolitan Police firearms officers who bravely intervened in a suspected armed robbery more than five years ago have finally been cleared of wrongdoing.
The armed robbers were sentenced to a total of 141 years
Am I the only one who thinks this is the first National Emergency since the 2nd world war with everyone trying to do their best & that ministers & journalists should stop criticising & offer to help instead? Step outside your comfort zone folks and just muck in!

Absobloodylutely. Really pleased for both the officers. However they now need looking after which I know

and Glen will do very well. If they were here now I would just give them both a hug. What a nightmare to live through.
Huge congratulations to

dog handler Paul Jackson acquitted today of assault after sending his dog to pursue fleeing criminals - when they were bitten. A real boost to dog handlers everywhere to see this ridiculous prosecution kicked in to touch.
Working my way through the Casey report. It may take some time but I do want to say this. 2 people have come out of retirement to steer us through this crisis in policing. They are open, honest & challenging to govt, public & colleagues. Thank you

My thoughts with their families, friends and colleagues today. 7 yrs on. The pain doesn't leave us. The memories of that day live in our minds forever. Take care out there. Sleep tight angels.
I actually have no words.
This was my original blog after the officer was charged.
But this… naming the officer… means their entire family will be under threat. 💔

Well done to our colleagues managing this. And to the guy who was managing that line and looking after his colleagues ‘bravo’ These incidents are never easy and if it’s the first time for you they can be quite frightening. Good to know your colleagues have your back.
Please can someone tell me this is false news? I defy any MP to respond and explain this position against a backdrop of public sector pay freezes for 10 years.
MPs to get £2,200 pay rise from April for 'dramatically increased' duties last year
Ok folks. Police are doing a bloody amazing job right now. The times on social media where maybe it hasn’t gone quite as we would like are NOT representative of the majority..which obvs aren’t shown & are cops doing their best. Remember this is new to us too.

I notice all those leaving their vile hatred have refused comments on their own posts. Cowards.
Their thoughts are worth nothing.
Whenever women get anywhere in policing these comments come out.
Jealousy? Ignorance? Lack of intelligence?

We all stand with you.
Gotta love Manchester. This will not have Been easy and the forensics and investigation teams will have worked through the night.... but it’s so important to the public.
This isn’t social distancing of two metres. It isn’t even reasonable “personal space” between two people.
Why do people feel they have the right to stand directly in front of anyone and scream in their faces? Do you like it? No? Then don’t do it to others.
My heart breaks reading this tribute. I’m also known as Andy and Harps (maiden name was shared with Andrew) and it made me smile reading all those pet names. Lissie, you have a bigger family than ever now who will continue to look after you but I know it will never ease the pain.

Oh my goodness. Really? Please tell me this has not happened. You had better expect a huge bill from the cops for all their cancelled rest days if this is the case.

MP Chris Bryant has stated MPs should be given financial help to pay for childcare because they have to attend the House of Commons on a Saturday.
Surely they can just about cover this with their £79k salary? 3 Saturdays in 70 years and MPs ask for financial help.. 🙄
Absolutely devastated to hear this news this morning. Last summer I was honoured to meet her for an hour on a sunny afternoon with Paul and Squish. Articulate. Intelligent. Compassionate. Beautiful inside & out. She is at peace now.. but what a state the MH services are in.😢😢
What matters is that Rebecca is clearly a competent professional doing a great job in a media storm.
Unlike Petronella & Amanda who are unprofessionally creating a nonsensical media storm with incredibly poor judgement. They shout about misogyny in policing & produce this?
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith seems to be using Nicola Bulley’s disappearance as a excuse to showcase her toned physique. Who wears a sleeveless dress in February? To those who say, does it matter what people wear to work? Yes, it does, when they are police officers.
🇨🇦 This afternoon The Queen visited the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery at the Guardroom at Windsor Castle.
The Regiment is currently undertaking guard duties in London and Windsor, for the very first time.
Firearms officers are the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure to work with & every one is a volunteer. We are the most accountable police service in the world. My thoughts with the Met tonight.
This is shocking. £10 per toilet roll is ridiculous profiteering and calling the police because the customer is complaining is utterly incomprehensible.
When you get sent this & had no idea it was on so didn’t watch it yourself.🥴
Literally had hundreds of messages! 🤣
This was my first TFC job and at 5am a film crew arrived!!! No pressure! Great job by the entire

If these were my children I would be simply horrified. Pouring petrol over officers. Attacking them whilst working. Screaming to set them alight or hit them. Is it any wonder we have to use our self defence tactics and equipment on 'children' like this. Where is your child?
No lasting harm to a 3 year old who was raped??? I'm sorry but the judge should be struck off for making such a ridiculous comment. Just let that sink in. A 3 yr old is raped and has no lasting effects?
It may be a full moon and Friday 13th which is never good for my colleagues but 13 is my lucky number and 16 years ago I married my gorgeous hubby. So tonight is a good night.
Sometimes we should defend and NOT pay out. The officers were correct. But that will never be the narrative now. Talk about throwing the lamb to the slaughter.
It’s a brief statement for a reason. There is an investigative process to follow including IOPC involvement so before you hung draw and quarter the police officer making a decision in less time than it’s taken you to read this tweet, let’s wait for the facts.
The man from the very brief statement that has been published was not presenting a threat to either members of the public or to the police officers. Why did
@metpoliceuk
shoot him dead?
Let’s just be honest here. There is no “staring down” and I would imagine it was more like silent respect for each other. Police & NHS are not & have never been in dispute. We passionately support each other. Once again the media choose to create anger instead of reality & hope🙁
2 key points here. 2 incredibly brave young men - heroes jumped into the water to save a 9 yr old. Sadly one of them lost their own life in doing so. My heart goes out to his family. Please do NOT go into deep water to cool off & STOP filming tragedies.
To all those blaming the officers for not being black belts in karate.... drugs, alcohol & some mental health conditions means they are stronger than they appear with no pain threshold. Do you also blame rape victims for wearing the wrong clothes?

Just a bloody brilliant cop doing the right, courageous thing, putting herself between subject and public, taking positive action and now supported by all senior officers and media!
My thoughts with all affected. ❤️

Well looking at the crowds I think all those protesting may be locking the rest of us down including our school kids for another few weeks. Let’s watch the R rate go up. 😢

When will we stop this labelling? Our frontline responders have the most challenging job. They have no choice but to be a specialist at every type of incident. Terrorist attacks, domestics, child abuse, fraud, mental health... the list goes on. It is a specialist rrole in itself.
How will they ever know if the sight of a police vehicle for a few seconds caused the driver to respond directly to cause the injuries to those people? Unless they can see inside his mind they will never know & I think it’s safe to say the cop couldn’t change a thing they did. 💔
That the IOPC, in announcing this investigation, can't bring themselves to applaud the courage and determination of officers responding to the tragic and barbaric violence in

is damning of their relationship with the public & police alike.
Proud mum tonight after the GCSE results. Eldest son smashed it. But more importantly he worked super hard, is a lovely polite young man (to everyone except me and his dad😜) and has a lovely circle of friends.
This was his pudding to celebrate!
I am a tad confused. It’s a car! There is nothing macho about it. I’m not quite clear why this is negative to women? I am really interested in why this would put females off as it will help us to understand the wider issues. Please DM me if you are in that position.
Couple of DMs from women working in policing about this, highlighting macho (and elitist) undertones. One specifically concerned female officers may be put off from applying for roles.
I took the weekend off twitter & returned to 5/6 officers stabbed/seriously injured, a shadow home secretary making personal judgement over a shortened video clip & a dispute over a senior officer failing to help Keith Palmer. Our officers are the bravest & best of our society.
I am truly disappointed with the headline.
Would we ridicule nurses, doctors, firefighters, paramedics and teachers if they got a framed certificate for saving someone’s life; putting their own life in danger; running towards a terrorist; catching the head of a drug gang?
