Wider cuts are the way the suit will become more popular, they are just more comfortable. If you prefer a slimmer look, one can wear a suit reminiscent of the 1960s.
Why can't men wear suits well? Because everything is made WAY TOO TIGHT. It takes a model to make the suit on the right look presentable, whereas 1980s adverts showed suits that could be worn by anyone.
