Any Govt with a sense of self-preservation would now: 1. Kill off the #Chagos deal & announce that the billions earmarked would now be spent on UK defence. 2. Sack Lord Hermer ⁦@Telegraph

I know how damaging the internet etc has been for children 💔 but shout out to everyone trying to help elderly parents navigate the online world. It’s a complete fucking nightmare and they will never catch up. Banks, healthcare, the lot. They’ve been completely abandoned.

If the Lords is worthwhile, it is thanks to @Fox_claire & a few others who take the trouble to understand the detail of legislation & take their role as members of a house of review seriously.

Today in the Lords we discussed a proposal to set up a dedicated Assisted Dying Help Service as part of the NHS, and a 'Personal Navigator' to push a person through a fast-track process to assisted death. Yuk. I said how I felt, and also warned against creating two-tier

King Charles has made a Prime Video doc "urging viewers to help protect the planet" "The idea we can be part of a system creating meaningful change is a really heartening one", he's quoted as saying The change I'd like is his abdication. He can be King or a politician, not both.

Man doesn't want to care for his wife so has her euthanized instead. And this is perfectly legal. If he'd been this callous with a pet dog people would be outraged! My heart is breaking for this poor woman!

I've long suspected Janan Ganesh to be without any sense of humour. Here is proof - he wrote a whole paragraph about Auberon Waugh without mentioning the most wonderful thing about Waugh - he was hilarious. Is it possible Ganesh can't tell when things are funny? @cypherpress

Look, at the end of the day it's useless to cry over this stuff. If Europe wants European security without having to go to Washington with a begging bowl it must do what it takes. There's no better security policy than domestic prosperity and a large army.

I am not picking on anyone, but here's some advice that can save your life: after a natural disaster (flood, hurricane, earthquake etc.) never ever go into dirty water or climb or walk across debris fields without wearing proper long sleeves and trousers, sturdy clothing, safety

The conversation about financial considerations should be much wider. Will assisted dying be cheaper than palliative care? Yes. Much cheaper. If you want to end your life early you will get a 'guide' to help you navigate the process efficiently. Funny how those who want

History is going to be totally unforgiving to Britain’s political class for its failure to rebuild our hard power after Putin annexed Crimea in 2014, and again after the full scale invasion in 2022. Instead of accepting that productive force is the ultimate arbiter, Westminster

Don't forget the Trump "silly thing" playbook: 1. Trump announces a silly thing 2. European Union says the silly thing is deeply concerning and it will consider its options 3. The Prime Minister of Japan calls Trump to discuss the silly thing and has a productive discussion
