A huge thanks to Microsoft for sending me a Surface Laptop 4! I'm really loving it!!😊
Thanks once again to
@designjon
& Microsoft for this wonderful gift!

Awesome work Zee! We’ve got something special for you as a gift from Microsoft for your creativity and passion for our products! Stay tuned and keep up the awesome work!
Haven't posted any designs in a while, so here's how some developer related tools like Visual Studio, GitHub Desktop & Visual Studio Code could look if they got refreshed with Windows 11's look and feel.

I wanted to see how the CommandBar styled Context Menus would look like if they were implemented throughout the OS. So here’s a consistent Context Menu style:

Saw somewhere that Bing is going to get those fancy Chat-GPT features. How about built-in Clippy in Windows with Chat-GPT or something xD

Been a reeeally long time since I posted something, so I decided to touch up some applications in Windows Tools folder with Windows 11 look-and-feel.

Was looking at the aesthetics of some new Microsoft web apps (e.g Copilot, OneDrive etc) that use Fluent 2 and thought what if that sort of bubbly, rounded design language was ported over to Windows...
(I also used Aptos as the UI font just for the lols)
#FluentDesign
So I wanted to see how a few inbox Windows apps could look like, if they used WinUI 2.6. Also you may notice that windows are now tinted with the desktop background.

Here’s a quick mock-up, Windows 11 has a feature called “Snap groups” which lets you restore snapped windows in one click.
What if the user could save those snapped apps as an app group and access them from Start? And clicking the pinned icon would open them in the same layout.
What if Microsoft's apps on the Mac looked more macOS-esque?
Following are a few examples of how I think Office apps and Microsoft Edge could look more "native" on macOS:

Inspired by the collaboration features in macOS Ventura and Figma — What if Windows had system-wide collaboration features which could let you share any app with others?
Following are some scenarios in which a feature like this can be useful.

Really excited to share my Windows 11 Shell Template!
I tried to recreate the shell components (like Start Menu, Task Bar, Widgets, Quick Settings, Notifications Center etc.) from scratch in Figma.

Messed around with a few ideas related to File Explorer — Added tags to the it, each tag has it's own color. A tagged folder will have a slight ribbon on it's icon.
There's also a new "Customize Folder" option which lets you add a glyph icon on the folder's icon.
Another design post this week — I really like how the new Office looks but I was kinda surprised to see some parts (such as the home screen) left unchanged. So what if they got refreshed as well?

Tried to improve the Widgets Pane in Windows 11 by making the pane resizable, adding support for multiple pages and more useful widgets (such as pinning entire folders, widgets for Task Manager, Phone Link and much more!
#FluentDesign
An idea for a new folder view—What if you could arrange files in different sections called “Fences” & could link other folders and they show up as “Fences” in that folder.
You could also add notes and to do lists, all of this can be resized and placed freely.

Since File Explorer is finally getting a new address bar and nav bar, here's how the Open/Save dialogs could be updated to match the new File Explorer design.

Finally got time to post something after almost 3 months.
As Windows 11 now has a special tablet mode with floating windows and stuff. Maybe we could ditch the close/minimize buttons in favor of gestures?
#FluentDesign
Been thinking of ways to improve the Details Pane in File Explorer. What if the pane also contained "Previous Versions" and a little preview of the selected file (that could be evoked when the thumbnail is clicked)?
#FluentFriday
Perhaps the new "Recall" feature could be better integrated into Windows' shell and act a successor to Windows Timeline, instead of having it as a separate app?
#FluentDesign
Few tweaks to the Quick Settings flyout—Currently when you click the battery text, it opens Settings, what if it opened a separate page for battery info instead?
There could be a separate page for Bluetooth too when you click the chevron in the Bluetooth toggle.
#FluentDesign
Decided to redesign Registry Editor with new WinUI 2.6 styles. Also the breadcrumb at the top changes to a text box when you click on the edit icon on the right.

Here's "App Groups" for Windows.
The user will be able to select which apps should go in which area of the screen. An icon will be created on the desktop afterwards.
The user would be able to launch those apps in the marked places, with a single click —

Excited to release the v2 of my Windows 11 Shell Template for Figma! In this update, shell elements are updated to be in-line with the latest Insider builds. Also, the Taskbar template now has vector-based icons.

✨Announcing Windows 11 Shell Template 3.0 for
@figma
This update includes updates to the Taskbar such as uncombined labels & notification icons, addition of Windows Copilot and redesigns to File Explorer and Widgets Pane!
📦
Designed a 'Devices flyout' which shows your connected devices and drives and you can even eject/manage them from there.
Also gave a fresh coat of paint to the Bluetooth flyout. All of these flyouts are accessible from the Control Center.

So I tried to redesign the "modern" Disk Management.
I know I've done a Disk Management redesign before, I wanted to give it a shot again :)

Heavily inspired by
@Arlodottxt
's System Tray idea from a few days ago, here's my take on it:
The tray icons have been moved from the Taskbar to Control Center & only two recent tray icons are shown. To expand it, just click on the circle.

Fluent Design Task Manager in latest Windows 11 build.
It is hidden and mostly broken but it confirms Microsoft is working on Task Manager redesign.

Here how the desktop context menu (in Windows 10) could be improved by taking some design cues/functionality from Windows 10X's desktop context menu —

I always thought something was missing in the Nearby Sharing experience, so here's an idea—let's integrate Nearby Sharing in a taskbar flyout :)
Initial thoughts on

, I love the new design and features. Can’t wait to download the insider builds when they become available. The new “Mica” material looks fantastic as well.
But, I really hope there is a new fluent file explorer 😆

Just noticed this new command bar/titlebar in Photos app. Probably the first time that an in-built Windows app has the controls merged with the titlebar.
Looks interesting 🤔

I have been using
@FilesForWindows
as my main File Explorer for a month and I must say it looks gorgeous and it sometimes performed better than the default File Explorer for me!🤯
