A tiny number of athletes are gifted enough in any sport to just “skill” their way to the top. Simple test to see if you’re one of them: if you’re reading this and not sure, you’re not. Give yourself the best shot possible to reach your goals, train hard.
On my first day as a Freshman with the Vandy Baseball team, everyone's shirt was off, our body fat was tested along with a couple lifts I repped 185 lbs on bench press 19x, tied for the team lead One guy couldn't even get 1 rep. His name was David Price. He went on to be

Everyone says “it’s a long offseason” until it’s February and they’re not ready. Pitchers report in 121 days. 17 weeks. 4 4-week training phases. Don’t waste them and wish you started earlier.

The best athletes in the world think less, allowing their actions to be driven directly by the affordances of their environment. High Performance Coordinator @Crider_HP talks you through these foundational motor learning principles in our most recent video.

As pro off-season starts to get rolling its a good time to plan out your off-season to make sure you are working harder and being efficient with your training. Love this clip of the 🐐 talking about allocation of training economy and workload management. Success leaves clues

History doesn’t happen by accident, and however important you think athlete intention in training is you’re still underselling it. Special to see Janson’s efforts show up in a big way; read more from @Travis_Sawchik on the behind the scenes work involved here linked below ⬇️⬇️
RHP Janson Junk walked just 13 of the 447 batters he faced with Miami in 2025, posting a 2.9 BB%, the lowest mark in MLB this season and the best single-season mark in club history (min. 100.0 IP).

This bat speed “reserve” idea is crucial to understand for hitters, + not uniquely important to hitting. If you can’t sniff 30 ft/s in a fly, you’re not going to touch it on the bases. Hard to cruise at 94 without being able to touch 97. Train the ceiling, raise the floor 🚀
Over 60% of MLB swings occur at 80-90% of peak bat speed Bat speed training isn't about swinging with absurd intent in games—it's about raising your ceiling so you swing faster WITHOUT changing your level of intent 90% of 85 > 90% of 75 More info: https://t.co/oxAKifHMZR

“I swear I eat everything. I eat 4,000 calories a day and can’t gain weight” No, you don’t. Assuming you space it out over 5 meals (you should - don’t cram; not great for your metabolic health and places a ton of pressure on your endocrine system), your day could look like

Heavy singles, but not max outs, are good for so many reasons: -High neural drive -Need for high motor unit recruitment -Way less fatigue -RFD📈 -Exposes an athlete’s ability to brace and take on higher levels of force Can be done at just about any time of the year (including
