i’m always surprised that it’s the minority of engineers who can - start a project from 0 - focus on the right things in the right order - set it up for near term success without compromising the long term i’d maybe ballpark it as 10% of engineers

40,000,000 minutes per month of CI builds, executing 500,000,000 to 600,000,000 tasks, with dynamic queues split between on-prem and AWS 🤯 That's what @UberEng migrated from #Jenkins to @Buildkite Hear more from @yohan on @DpeShowdown 👇 https://t.co/2sfFNZjflg

Owning up to your mistakes doesn’t cast doubt on your credibility. Admitting you were wrong shows that you care about getting it right. Recognizing moments of bad judgment is a step toward demonstrating good judgment. Issuing a correction is a mark of intellectual integrity.

A cardinal rule of responsibility: Never expect of others what you're unwilling to do yourself. If you're not in the office, don't demand that employees show up. Good managers hold themselves to the same standards as others. Great leaders hold themselves to higher standards.

Insecure arrogance: "I have all the answers. Only I can fix it." Confident humility: "I have many questions. We need to study what broke it." The people to trust are not the ones who project the most confidence. They’re the ones who know the limits of their competence.
